    US STARTING XI
    Perk-Mayen-Opara-Davies-Gale-Powers-Jeffery-Diskerrud-Shea-Ownby-Taylor

Not too sure what the formation actually is here. Ownby is listed in midfield, but plays forward in college. Shea is listed as a forward, but plays all along the left side of the pitch for FC Dallas. This might be a 4-5-1 with Taylor alone up front.

UPDATE: Its being called a 4-3-3, but that's a loose title
    D - Mayen-Opara-Gale-Davies
    M - Diskerrud-Jeffrey-powers
    F - Ownby-Taylor-Shea

Its been a lot of Shea on the left flank in midfield though.

The US are wearing their white uniforms today, so zee Germans are in red and black. I like the red German shirt, but its weird to see them.

Commentators talking early about the injuries for the Germans. One of the Benders is out and the other is starting in central defense.

First shot of the match comes in from Jeffery from distance. No threat as it went well over the goal.

And a quick turnaround for the Germans as Sukutu-Pasu (RSP) takes a long pass and gets a shot, that Perk saved well.

And shortly after the US with a poor give away and RSP ends up with the ball an the shot goes wide.

USA earns a corner as Kopplin sends Brek Shea's cross out. It was a dangerous one with Taylor coming in on goal.

Jeffery takes the corner, sends it low and the Germans clear it out.

Things aren't looking good early for the US defense. Not good as that was supposed to be a strength with a fairly anonymous attack.

US is going backwards a lot. Particularly with Shea on the left. Ike Opara looks comfortable on the ball.

And as I am typing that, Ownby with a poor give away on the right and missed clearance by Opara and the ball goes through to RSP. Perk charges out and RSP sends it over the goal. Another great chance by the Germans.

Germany with a corner now. First goes short and USA clears for a second corner, which goes long and gets sent out for a Germany throw.

Kopplin for the Germans can launch the ball on the throws and this could be a dangerous attacking point for the Germans all morning.

Another corner for the Germans. Third of the match in the early going. Perk goes for it and gets fouled in the process.

Vrancic with a fairly dirty foul on Gale. Just cleared him out with no attempt for the ball while Gale was going for a header.

The US have not found any possession thus far. It really looks like the Germans have trotted 15 players out on the pitch. They're everywhere.

Brian Ownby nearly had a shot on goal after a long throw through the box. He wasn't able to get a foot on it though and the Germans are back in the US half with possession.

Brek Shea breaks up the German possession and gets the US going forward, but that slows down and fizzles out quickly.

US with a good couple minutes of possession now. Just not making a lot of progress though.

The commentators are mentioning the heat, which apparently is oppressive, as one would assume when you're in Suez and its sunny. Looks like play will be in spurts with some breaks to just kick it around so players don't pass out.

USA with a solid attacking chance as the ball gets played through low by Taylor looking for Ownby. It goes through however, but Zeiler takes Ownby to the face. Doesn't look to be in terrible shape, but he is bleeding from the mouth. He'll stay in.

This leads to some hilarity as the German backup keeper was all ready and excited to get in and now looks like he is going to cry on the bench.

USA just had 9 players behind the ball on an attacking throw. All but Taylor.

USA counters after breaking up the throw. The ball was sent through by Taylor, looking for Shea. Shea was offside, but has been looking dangerous thus far.

Still waiting for Diskerrud to do something. Don't think I have heard his name aside from when the commentator was referencing him as one of the two Europe based players.

Germany gets a dangerous free kick after a questionable call on Opara. He was going shoulder to shoulder with RSP and appeared to get a lot of the ball and not much of the man. USA cleared the free kick.

RSP still looks dangerous, but hasn't been too threatening since the very early going. Regardless, he's a very big, strong, and skilled forward who will cause problems for Opara and Gale.

Uhoh. Ownby takes Kopplin down in the box and the Germans get a penalty. Ownby gets a yellow.

And the Germans go up 1-0. Semih Aydilek takes it and sends it in low and to Perk's right. Perk went left.

More danger from the Germans. A player was coming down the right uncontested and sent a low cross through the box. Ownby cleared for a corner.

The corner went through and ended up with Florian Jungwirth who sent a powerful shot past Perk.

    2-0 Germany

Two in two minutes for the Germans and the US still can't retain possession. Germany is just too organized and constantly have players on the ball and ready to move forward.

More bad news for the US as Taylor gets fouled, but Kyle Davies goes down away from the play and has to come off the pitch. Jorge Flores looks like he'll be coming in to play leftback. Not sure what happened to Davies, but its a blow for the US as their captain is out.

Free kick taken MLS style. Poor and low. Cleared by the Germans and Holtby breaks away. His shot is deflected out for another German corner.

The US eventually clear it out.

Brek Shea goes on a short break with a bit of a run. The ball ends up centrally and Taylor just tries to run through a German defender. Didn't work as the Germans had four there ready to break down the attack.
