Navy game thread vs. Temple: 7-3 near the end of the 1st half. Navy's starting Proctor at quarterback, though Dobbs is available for "emergency" situations. One of which was a blown sneak on 4th-and-1. Temple's offense has looked ok, they just haven't been able to pull anything together other than a 68-yd run that busted about 3 tackles. Gotta love fall in Annapolis.
Wow. Punter dropped the snap in the end zone for Temple, the kicker picked it up and should've just run out of the end zone for a safety, but tried to rush the kick and didn't get it past the line of scrimmage (live ball!) returned for a touchdown. 10-7 Navy!
....And Temple takes the kickoff 100 yards. James Nixon didn't smell a defender, and I guess having 4.3 speed is ok if no one's close to you. 14-10. Still a minute or so left in the half.
Should've said: this is on CBSCollege right now. I'll see if there's a espn360 link. Edit: Nope. You're stuck with Boomer on CBSC.
Temple starts the second half gashing Navy's D with the run, but the Middies stiffen at the right time to hold the Owls to a FG
Navy gets stopped on a three-and-out with some kind of lame play-calling, but special teams comes up big again on the punt fumble. Reverse, four option runs, touchdown. Rinse and repeat. 17-17. 7:54 left in the 3rd.
When Temple's tried to run, they've had some success. When they've tried to throw in the last 3 quarters, they're 1/11...with more receptions by Navy safety Wyatt Middleton (2 int's) than anyone in a Temple white jersey.
As I said, when temple rushes, good things happen. They now have 278yds, after Pierce runs wild for a long TD run. 27-24 Temple, and Navy's got 3 minutes to go 80 yards through a torrential downpour with no timeouts. Not the best situation for an option team.
