The sad thing is, there is a lot of truth to this. Let the kid play and get into shape. This is just setting him up to fail.
That's silly (unless you're being sarcastic, in which case disregard what follows). How much more can he learn from a league in which he can get 37 (or whatever) and 12 in his first game after being out since before Summer League? And it's not like he needs to get in shape for big minutes (of course, with the curse...) - he's still more likely to be DNP-CD than anything. He is to the D-League like Bayless was to his first Summer League. And much good it did him.
Mills is playing right now for the Stampede. Stat wise he's come back down to earth. 8 mins to go in the game. EDIT: Mills heating up!
Nice game for Mills, 22pts 3ast 2reb 4to 8/12 FGA (4/5 3pt) 2/2 FT in 32min http://www.nba.com/dleague/games/boxscore.jsp?gameId=2020900109
considering he was 2/5 for 6 points at halftime....putting up 6/7 (4/5 from 3) for 16pts leading them back from a 20pt deficit in the 2nd half is pretty impressive
You all know I'm biased, so I'll keep it at "good work Patty, keep up the effort, be ready to grasp your opportunity when it comes".
Nice efficiency. 22 points on 12 shots is pretty good. The guy can obviously tear up D-Leaguers, hopefully we see a bit of him when he gets called up. I like how he's 11-15 from 3 in the two games. I didn't know he was this good of a shooter.
He wasn't, but I think the one thing he could do while injured was shoot. A silver lining I guess. Hopefully his shooting continues and this is not just a sample size issue.
A couple of Mills articles; one about his D-League debut, and one about his road trip with the team. Points stampede as Patrick Mills 'kills' Mills is living the life of luxury
It definitely wouldn't hurt if he can stick the outside jumper since we've come to realize the ideal PG to play with Roy needs to hit jumpers. Could he be a young Andre Miller with a jumper?
One of the things that impressed me was that he turned the ball over on an out of bounds play in the last 45 secs of the game, then came up with the loose ball and the game winning layup with 2.5 seconds to play. Struggled a little with turnovers and had some nice passes that should have been assists, the kid is a steal at the 55th pick. Go Patty and Go Blazers!
