I think that is the preferred series for me and that happens provided Phoenix wins their last two games and we beat the Warriors. It also keeps the Nuggets and Jazz out of our bracket. We'd play Phoenix in first round and then Spurs or Mavs in the second. That is doable. The Phoenix fans want us too. See poll on this page:

We may be able to tell who the Blazers want to play by how they play the Warriors on Wednesday. I'm not 100% sure, but maybe the Blazers will have a choice between the Suns or Mavs. Not sure, though.

Mavs or Suns would be better than Jazz or Nuggets.

Oh man, I didn't think about the fact that Utah would play Denver and one would knock the other out for us. That would be a DREAM!!!:NOTMARIS: Then Dallas or Spurs second round. :NOTMARIS::NOTMARIS:

I agree that would be our best chance. If not I hope we face the Mavs. I really rather not face the Nuggets or Jazz if at all possible.

After these back to back wins vs. LA and OKC (sans Brandon Roy), I really don't care who the Blazers face. I'm done thinking about it. Bring on the Lakers, bring on the Nuggets, bring on the Mavs or the Jazz, or yes, bring on perhaps the Suns. Couldn't care less. Our team is playing terrific basketball right now, and I feel confident playing vs. anybody.

Yep. Our road to the Finals could be Phoenix, Dallas, Lakers. We are 7-3 against those three teams.

Well, we gotta play someone. We're more designed for playoff basketball than the Suns are. We can control the tempo and beat these guys. They're our best chance of getting out of the first round. Utah and Denver are really tough places to start a playoff series.

I'd love to play the Lakers but the Thunder just clinched the #8 seed. We likely won't face the Lakers til the WCF.

I recall last time the A's were in the playoffs. They badly wanted to face the Tigers (with home field) and not the Twins (without home field). And it looked like it would be the Tigers, they just had to win one of 3 games, but they lost all 3 so the A's faced the Twins on the road. And the Twins were just about unbeatable on their home field.

So the A's swept the Twins. Then got the Tigers, with home field, in the League Chamionship Series.

    And were swept.

Moral of the story, weird things happen in postseason. Just play your hearts out, whoever you face.

Does anyone know what the most likely scenario is?

I think for us, it is 6th place. Who is most likely to get 3rd?

I agree. I dont think the Suns will beat both Denver and Utah.

Suns vs Denver is on TNT tonight.
Suns vs Jazz is on ESPN tomorrow.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Suns are home against Denver, on the road against Utah. So, yeah, I don't expect the Suns to win both...I'd favour them slightly against Denver, since it's in Phoenix, and favour the Jazz by a fair amount in Utah.

Both Phoenix and Utah will be on the second game of a back-to-back...hopefully Utah will be more tired. But it doesn't look good.

There's also the small hope that Golden State beats Utah tonight, in Golden State. If that happens, does Phoenix need to beat Utah?

Man, who knew that the Warriors would be playing the spoiler role in the West seeding race?

    Also, according to blazers.com:

Phoenix @ Utah on closing night will matter, no matter what happens before then. They both will be playing for the 3 seed if Phoenix had beaten Denver the night before. It's possible the 2 seed could be up for grabs (much more likely for Utah then Phoenix). Even if Denver had won their final two games, the teams will be playing to determine which of them gets homecourt against the other in round one.

I thought that the division champions get the top 3 spots. So that being said, I fail to see how PHX moves into #3.

    No. According to http://www.nba.com/features/seedingprimer07.html

"The top four seeds will be the three division winners plus the team with the next best record. Those four will be ordered by record (and tiebreakers if needed), so it's possible that two teams in the same division could hold the top two spots, with the other two division winners at Nos. 3 and 4."

All a division winner is guaranteed is a top 4 seed. This is because of the whole seeding debacle back in 06.

Oh yea I remember that. There was a big hubbub because one of the top 3 seeds had a worse record than many teams below it.

Yeah it was the Thuggets getting the 3 seed even though they had a worse record than the 6 seed Clippers, because they won a crappy division that year. And the #1 and #2 seeds met in the conference semis. What a mess.
