The Chicago Fire utilized goals from Baggio Husidic and Peter Lowry and six saves from Andrew Dykstra to defeat the Houston Dynamo 2-0. The Fire (2-2-1, 7 points) won their second consecutive game of the season and earned their first victory over the Dynamo at TOYOTA PARK.

The Fire controlled possession for the majority of the first half, consistently applying pressure to the Houston backline while outshooting the Dynamo 13-2. Brian McBride had a slew of opportunities to give the Fire the early advantage, none better than in the 11th minute when Dynamo defender Eddie Robinson nodded down a lofted back pass directly in McBride's path. The Arlington Heights product sent his driven shot just over the cross bar.

The Fire finally broke through the Dynamo defense and bested veteran goalkeeper Pat Onstad as Husidic headed home the first goal of his MLS career in the waning moments of first half stoppage time. Justin Mapp found space in the middle of the park and found Tim Ward with a timely pass just outside of the Dynamo 18-yard box. Ward blasted a shot at Onstad, who deflected the ball up in the air as he dove to ground. Husidic beat two Dynamo defenders, rose to the ball and headed it into the back of the empty Houston net. Husidic, who played his high school soccer in Libertyville, IL and was drafted 20th overall by the Fire out of the University of Illinois at Chicago in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft opened his MLS account in his 15th appearance for the Men in Red.

Lowry added to the Fire's lead in the 67th minute. Patrick Nyarko's nifty footwork and a penetrating run into the Houston penalty area created the opportunity. As Nyarko dribbled toward the touchline, the Ghanaian sent a tight-angle cross to the near post that Lowry used his chest to direct past a diving Onstad and into the back of the net.

Dykstra collected his second consecutive clean sheet of the season, tallying six saves as the Fire earned their first home victory of the 2010 campaign.

The Fire take the pitch in pursuit of their third victory of the season when the club hosts Chivas USA at TOYOTA PARK on Saturday, May 1 at 7:30 PM CT. For tickets please call 1-888-MLS-FIRE or head to the club's official website at www.Chicago-Fire.com.
