Does it feel like the weekend of June 25-26 can't get here fast enough?

The consolation prize for the Ducks not making the Stanley Cup playoffs this season is that they'll have two picks in the first round, one of which coming from Philadelphia in the Chris Pronger trade at last season's draft.

Right now, the Ducks have their own pick at 12th overall but they figure to be the biggest fan of the team that faces the Flyers in the second round.

Why? The Ducks would also have the No. 16 pick. However, if Philadelphia advances to the Eastern Conference finals, that pick would slip all the way down to No. 27 at best (the conference finalists will have the final four picks in the first round).

It is quite possible that the club will actively look at using one of those picks as a bargaining chip to move up within a draft that, by all accounts, is the deepest since the celebrated 2003 draft where seemingly every team came away with an NHL player (except for the New York Rangers who took first-round bust Hugh Jessiman).
