Wolves are desperate to get Rubio to come over. He doesn't wanna. The main reasons he doesn't are that Minnesota is a tiny market, colder than a well-digger's arse and in general a sad, depressing franchise. David Kahhhhhn can't do anything about those. BUT: two more reasons are: they have Jonny Flynn, and they don't have any other Spaniards.

    Voila: Rudy for Flynn!

This was tossed around last summer when both Flynn and Rudy looked a lot better. Flynn has to be depressed that this was the Year of the Freshman PGs, and about a bazillion of them had better seasons than him (Evans, Curry, Jennings, Collison and even perhaps Beaubois and Rubio (who is currently on a team that almost certainly could beat the Wolves in a 7 game series)). I think that has a lot to do with stupid Rambis trying to install the triangle with a roster that is about the worst possible to do it with. I would hope that he's better than he's looked, and that he could potentially be our PG of the future. Thoughts?

[What happens if Minny wins the Wall sweepstakes? You've GOT to think Flynn gets dealt. Rubio and Wall could probably work together, as Rubio and Navarro are doing in Barca, but there's no room for Flynn as well.]

I'd do that. The triangle offense killed his game, IMO.

He was a good defensive player in College but he was atrocious as a pro. Hopefully he can improve on this end.

I'm not a huge Flynn fan, but I'd be willing to do that in a heartbeat. The question is how much more the Wolves would want.

Our first rounder this year? Probably, and I'd be willing to give that. A first rounder in two years, also?

Where do I sign? And it really needs to be said, what kind of a morons are Rambis and Kahn for either A) completely miscasting players into that system, or B) being so foolish/stubborn to try and shoe-horn two pick and roll point guards and Al Jefferson into a system that requires guards to be deep threats and big men to be deft passers out of the post?

Not happening....even if they got the #1 (Wall)....I don't see them dealing with thier impending PG log jam until Rubio comes over and that won't be until next year at the earliest...

I'm pretty sure Rubio does not have an opt-out clause in his contract for this summer.

    I'd do it btw.

i think that technically he can opt out this year, but it's a prohibitively high buyout---where in 2011-12 it's a lot cheaper (like 8M vs. 500k or something...I'll check(

I was wrong...the 8M was the Joventut buyout. Barca has him until after next year.

Maybe I'm alone, but I just don't see Rubio turning out all that well in the NBA, his passing is great and he's big and long, but he has trouble finishing and his jump shot sure leaves a lot to be desired.

Offensively he has a lot to work on. He's closer to Sergio than he is Steve Nash when it comes to scoring the ball.

I think they could get a lot more for Flynn if they decided to move him.

I agree. I'm not that high on Rubio.

Flynn however, I've been high on him since college (maybe to a fault). I would do this plus picks, cash, whatever to make it work. I think he could be pretty solid on our team.

If they want Rubio to feel at home in those cold Minnesota winter nights, throw in Claver too. I am sure the kid has talent, but will we ever see it? Maybe if they all want to play together....

Based on what I saw last year, I don't think Flynn is any more of a pure PG then Bayless. He is a lot smaller and smiles more though

Much like how Rondo didn't have a jump shot...but he's worked on it and now is one of the better point guards...

Rondo is an elite finisher with top flight athleticism and quickness, something I've never heard attributed to Rubio.
