With a nod to Hartford's professional football past, the Hartford Colonials unveiled their logo and team colors Monday at the XL Center. The team will wear a gold helmet, paying homage to the old Hartford Knights. The Knights were a semi-pro team in the Atlantic Coast Football League that played at Dillon Stadium from 1968-73. The team colors are blue and gold, with the logo prominently featuring a gold "H" and an eagle. "The logo design will represent Hartford and the State in a classy and distinguished manner," coach/general manager Chris Palmer said in a statement. "The eagle is a sign of freedom and strength and the gold helmet represents the state capital and is a sign of respect for the old Hartford Knights. I know our fans will wear the Colonials apparel with pride, as will our players." Palmer unofficially unveiled the team's blue jersey at the monthly Middlesex Chamber of Commerce breakfast Monday morning in Cromwell. He presented Chamber of Commerce president Larry McHugh with a team jersey that featured McHugh's name and the No. 10. http://www.courant.com/sports/football/hc-web-colonials-logo-0524-20100524,0,1693517.story
