The Bucks have a young roster and feel as though they'll bolster their chances of a second straight playoff run if they sprinkle in a few veterans.

"We want to have a young, energetic, athletic team," general manager John Hammond said. "But we also know we need veteran help. There's no question that what helped us last season were guys such as Jerry Stackhouse and Kurt Thomas and John Salmons.

"Those guys have been around the block before. We know that it's a lot of pressure on those young guys to perform every night, especially those guys that haven't been there. The more veteran help you can have, that's important for any team."

Milwaukee hopes to re-sign free agents Salmons and Luke Ridnour.

They offered Salmons a four-year, $27 million deal at the end of their season, but he turned down the contract.
