Simple enough here, what national teams do you support and why do you follow them? I actually keep track of a top ten. I didn't intend to have a certain number of teams, it just turned out that way. lol

Germany - My entire family originates from Germany. I'm the first born in the states.
    United States - My homeland.
France - My wife is from France.
Japan - I love Japan. I also love the J League, so I'm familiar with all of their players.
Russia - Tough and fun to watch; very sad that they're not at the World Cup.
Uruguay - I've always been drawn to Uruguay. This one I just can't explain.
    Netherlands - Oranje madness!
Belgium - Young, skillful and the future of European football.
Chile - My favorite South American nation (off the pitch).
Slovenia - A gritty nation on the pitch and a beautiful one off of it.

A French wife, so you list them third, how wrong. But I suppose the avatar gave that away a long time ago.

Anyway, there are only two nations I follow whole-heartedly at all times.

Germany - My birthland, my native land, still a citizen and fluent speaker of the language.
U.S.A. - Have lived here 24 years, most certainly has become my homeland

Other teams I really only like at certain times because of certain players, and here are some examples.

The mid to late 90's Nigerian squad. Players like Jay Jay Okocha, Finidi George, Amokachi, Oliseh, Ikpeba and others made that team a lot of fun to watch. And, given my club team, it's almost always easy to root for a team in green and white.

Currently, England is actually among my favorites, because Steven Gerrard has been my favorite non Bremen affiliated player for a decade now.

South Korea in 2002 was fun to root for.

Always liked Norway for some reason or another.

Enjoyed the Rosicky years of the Czech team.

The VanBasten, Gullit, Rijkaard, Koeman, Wouters years of the Dutch team was cool too.

lol, I'm just sayin, Germany followed by France is kinda like a Red Sox fan who likes the Yankees, or a Packer fan who likes the Bears, and so on.

    Brazil - Born and raise.
Germany - Family from there. I am also a German since I have dual citzenship.
Uruguay - Strong connections to my club team, they always had some important players here.
Chile - Always loved the country, visited 5 times already and would go again any chance I have.

^ Oh really 123, so you're rooting for Germany from now on huh? I've heard there's lots of Germans in Brazil. :)

The countries I follow and root for:

Kosovo/Albania - born in Kosovo, which is still not in FIFA, so we root for Albania which is kind of like our second country (motherland shall I say lol)

Germany - most of family lives there, if I could choose to go back in time I would have loved to be a German lmao

Netherlands - love everything about Holland, their lifestyle, trance music, and the way they play football

Switzerland - again lots of family there, plus they have Albs on the team

Brasil - best country IMO in South America, when it comes to soccer, women, language ;)

USA - I'm American now so that's the main reason

Ghana - just starting now to follow them, young team which might do damage at next world cup

Yes, I am rooting for Germany. There is lots of Germans in Brazil, specially in the south of the country. There is also a lot of Italians, Spaniards and Japaneses here. I'm 1/4 italian, 1/4 lebanese, 1/4 german and 1/4 portuguese.

By the way I love hearing Portugese, I think it has to be one of the top 5 languages in the world. wish I spoke it :(

Germany's main rivals are the Dutch and the English, not the French.

Well, sure, strictly on soccer terms, that's true. But, it seems, the French as a nation has the uncanny ability to become a main rival to, well, just about everybody.

    England - Default.
Ireland - Irish mother, Irish family.
Holland - Always have an Arsenal player in their side and I have family in Amsterdam.
Serbia and Russia - I don't know why.

Once England are kicked out, I generally support any nation with an Arsenal player.

He was disappointing last season. I want to see him pick his game up next year.
