Twitter from Alex Kennedy of Poopsworld:
I'm for it, especially since I think he'd get more. Which I think the Bulls know too, which is why they're offering less and hoping he takes it. Which he won't.

Any one else think this story may have some connection to the Nuggets story? Sign for under market value or we'll ship you to Denver, sayeth Reinsdorf?

I mentioned that possibility n the other thread, though I really hope they aren't that short-sighted. But, um, anyone have quick access to that pic from earlier in the summer of Jo in the bong shop? If I were the bulls I'd bring that to the negotiation.

Melo for Noah is sort of a wash in the realm of pothead for pothead athlete deals, isn't it?

If its true the Bulls offered an extension, its what they should be doing. They'd be pilloried if they didn't. Whether that's a final offer or a number to be negotiated is a fair question. The Bulls have played the "low number but financial security" card before.

I'd feel a lot better if they got something done because I'd like to see Noah as a long term piece. I was a big fan of his when he was at Florida and I've been glad to see he's progressed and started to impress those who initially doubted his value. Hopefully both sides can come up with something that works.

Poison Pill Provision, then BYC. Seems easier to trade him before signing him, if that's the plan.

I too am a fan of Noah and normally you dont trade big for a smaller player, but Mello is not your average run of the mill player.

At first, I thought to myself no. Noah brings so much energy, heart, and desire to this team. He also brings descent defense, rebounding, and gives us length.

Denver already has Nene. So why would they want Noah? They are similar.

If we we do trade noah and Deng, Denver would have to send someone back with Mello. From what I have read, Mello's extension should run slightly under 20 mill. So that leaves us with about 3 mill we need to come back to us. Dont see anyone left except for maybe Chris Andersen. He makes about 4 mill, but his contract runs through 2013/14.

I am ok with the trade if Anthony would be committed to us. We can sign a big man for vet minimum to help make up for the loss of Noah.

"You hear the one about the fella who died, went to the pearly gates? St. Peter lets him in. Sees a guy in a suit making a closing argument. Says 'Who's that?' St. Peter says, 'Oh, that's God. Thinks he's Denny Crane."

I suppose one day I should try to watch that show. You seem to like it quite a bit.

Who put on more weight from his prime? James Spader or Wiliam Shatner? Denny, did I mention I read Shatner's autobiography over vacation this summer? If you haven't, I'll send it to you. Entertaining stuff.

He's a good looking 78. I mean... I haven't seen his nuts or anything, but if I'm doing as well at 78, I'll be pleased

According to Wikipedia, he was born March 22, 1931. That would make him 79 going on 80. He's got a new sitcom on CBS this fall, too.

Shatner battled the bulge dating back to Star Trek (original series). It was a 3 season show and he was a chubby wubby for the first first third of the last two seasons before working himself into shape.

I don't think anyone at the min would make up for poising Noah, but I also think that having Nene makes Noah less valuable to Denver than he is in the abstract.

It'd be interesting to get Nene back if we traded Noah, but I don't think that would work under any trade scenario I can think of. And for Denver, they'd have to turn around and pay Noah just as much as they pay Nene, so that'd be a wash too.

I don't know that Noah should be unhappy with that, though I don't know that he should sign it either.

Looking around, for some comparable players/contracts
    Josh Smith 5/$58M
    Antawn Jamison 4/$50M
    Anderson Varejao 6/$43M
    Tyson Chandler 6/$63M
    Brendan Haywood 6/$55M
    Nene 6/$60M
    Andris Biedrins 6/$63M
    Yao 5/$75M
    Chris Kaman 5/$52M
    Andrew Bynum 4/$58M
    Andrew Bogut 5/$60M
    Emeka Okafor 6/$72M
    Eddy Curry 6/$56M
    Elton Brand 5/$82M
    LaMarcus Aldridge 5/$65M
    Sam Dalembert 6/$64M
    Andrea Bargnani 5/$50M
    Al Jefferson 5/$65M

Where does Noah fit in there?
