Is he that bad that he cant get any minutes on our dreadful bench? I mean he cant possibly shoot worse then Rudy?

All i know is its kinda scary that the 16th overall pick cant get into the game yet we traded instant offense in webster for this guy. I know lukes defense is bad but didnt we draft him for offense?

We took him to save money. That's basically how I see it.

Still, he can't be this bad right? Can't even get a single minute on a team depleted with injuries. Especially since right now, we don't have a clear backup SF.

as i said in October.... our bench sucks. You guys wanna use injuires as an excuse but only roy is hurt. Our bench was teh weakest in years way before roy went out.

Martell Webster was not instant offense.

yeah well neither is anyone off our bench

least martell could drop 20 when his 3 was falling or slashing to basket

Other than Eric Bledsoe, who we probably should have taken, who that was picked soon after Babbitt would be contributing right now?

    First round picks after Babbitt:

    1 17 Kévin Séraphin PF/C
    1 18 Eric Bledsoe PG
    1 19 Avery Bradley SG
    1 20 James Anderson SG
    1 21 Craig Brackins PF
    1 22 Elliot Williams SG
    1 23 Trevor Booker PF
    1 24 Damion James SF
    1 25 Dominique Jones SG
    1 26 Quincy Pondexter SF
    1 27 Jordan Crawford SG
    1 28 Greivis Vasquez PG/SG
    1 29 Daniel Orton C
    1 30 Lazar Hayward SF

If he were on our team, I doubt he would have even had a chance to prove himself, even with Roy's injury.

The '10 Draft has been pretty damn weak so far in terms of impact players. It's a shame Elliot had to be lost for the season. I think he could've been a nice scoring punch off the bench, and he would've certainly gotten an opportunity now. Damn, oh well.

He literally must be the worst practice player ever not to get a couple of minutes on this team

My gut reaction during the draft was to clutch my head with both hands and shout, "nooooooooooooo!!!" when I heard about the trade going through. Everything I read about him and saw about him screamed Luke Jackson or Ammo -- slow footed on D, slow release on his J -- but I had this glimmer of hope based on his combine numbers.

My guess is that he gets abused bad enough in practice on the defensive end that Nate wants nothing to do with him, and no matter how much MB pimps him as a great shooter in practice, he sure as hell doesn't look ready to shoot when he has appeared briefly in games this year or during Summer League.

In the words of Dennis Green, "it looks like he is who we thought he was."

And the irony is that the T'Wolves are whining as if they got ripped off in the deal.

And exactly how many games has Martell Webster helped the Timberwolves win this season? He might have helped us win a couple more preseason games, but since he hasn't played one second of regular season ball due to a back injury, I'd say this trade is looking pretty even right now. We gave up nothing and got nothing in return (and saved some money - could we have made the same toxic offer to Wesley Matthews if we wouldn't have dumped Webster's contract on the Timberwolves?). At least Babbit is healthy enough to serve as practice fodder. Would you really rather have yet another injured player on our roster?

I don't really care much that we lost Webster. I just think we could have found someone better than Babbitt to replace Marty (like Ryan Gomes, perhaps).

But again, this was probably meant to be a money saving move.

Who do you want to sit? LMA played 5 minutes too long last night. So play Dante' 5 more minutes. No other rookie is better right now [/B from that list than DC. Did you want to take minutes from Batum and Wesley last night? With Carmelo playing 35 minutes?

Last night was not the night for Babbit. He will get his chance. But do you pass up on talent because he is not ready the first month of his rookie season? Maybe like most players drafted in the NBA he will not be a good player, but to already question the pick is absurd. Is Martel even playing?
