The Oregon State Football program was a complete shambles this year. Wins against Arizona, USC, Cal were good indications towards a post bowl effort but then they fell apart versus UCLA and Washington State. What the f** was the beatdown against USC and then don't show up against stanford? I agree with Riley, this team never found its identity this year and just plain fell apart. As a Beaver fan, I'm disappointed by this team and i bet the ducks are going to beat them by 21 points or more.

    peace.

They basically already said that Riley and the team was looking past Stanford to the Ducks.

Nonetheless, if they get blanked like that against Stanford, what gas is left for the Beavers? They are going to get spanked with little heart they have left and I think they burned their energy against USC. Again no post bowl for the Beavers, and this latest loss on the road they are just a joke with no purpose or motivation.
I bet some offensive coaches will be in toe next season and Riley will be on the hot seat.

Katz looked absolutely like a pile of shit tonight against the Trees.

    Losing Rodgers probably didn't help.

It seems to me that they have overall mediocre talent and young players. That breeds inconsistency. It was just one of those years. They have a base to build on for next season.

And then there's the civil war.

...so far, in Riley's pro-style offense, every year the Beavers have to break in a new QB they tend to fall off a little ['01 & '05 and now '10]. Be patient, Katz is only going to get better and better...I just hope it happens this off-season so the Rodgers Bros. can have a magical "senior" year!

It was a down year in talent/experience, plus I'm not sure Riley (or at least the offensive/defensive coaches) are what it takes to win consistently.

It gets real old watching the team start off slow and finish strong. Just once I'd like them to start off strong and finish strong. But with the Ducks taking the steps necessary to compete in the elite programs, OSU has been left in the dust. I guess they're content being the (distant) second best program in the state.

If you guys beat the Ducks, does that make this whole season worth it?

Personally, it wouldn't for me (if I were a Beaver fan).

I think it would. To knock off the #1 ranked team would be huge.

Factoring in that guys have had an absolutely brutal schedule this year. Before bsu lost you had 4 of the top 5 teams on your schedule in Oregon Stanford bsu and tcu. I'm not sure Oregon gets out of that schedule without at least one loss.

...you may not be sure, but I would guarantee at least one loss. And I would even bet that if you faced Stanford at the end of the year, then that would be a loss as well. Regardless, the outcome of the Civil War is a win-win for me as I will have no problem routing for Oregon in a National Championship game should they win.

This would be like the Florida Marlins, just beating the yankees in the world series in 2003. I would be shell shocked, but I wouldn't say the season was worth it. The Beavers would get a low end bowl (Mud Bowl) if they pulled off this type of miracle.

Canfield was absolutely terrible before his senior year. Hopefully Katz pulls it together for his junior year.

It really seemed like Riley got you guys to a point in his first stint and then Erickson took over. I think you guys would be in a different situation if Erickson hadn't left when he did. He never should have tried to go back to the NFL again. He was doing well at OSU and I certainly didn't want him coaching the Niners. It would be like Rich Brooks come back and coaching the Ducks, would they have been as good and would Kelly be coaching now?

Our O-line and defense has just been brutal at times this year. Very disappointing. I think we can compete in the Civil War. We'll see. GO BEAVS!
