"It was extraordinary circumstances for Vancouver Canucks backup goaltender Cory Schneider to get two consecutive starts, but just as extraordinary was the off-kilter team in front of him for most of two periods on Sunday night at Rogers Arena.

Yes, Vancouver was 10-2-1 heading into the game, but Schneider had to be solid and at times excellent, as the Canucks eventually overcame whatever indigestion the Christmas break had given them and took a 3-2 come-from-behind win over the Edmonton Oilers.

Defenceman Kevin Bieksa, with his first goal in nine games, sealed the victory with just 24 seconds left in the third period to snap the tie and complete a comeback from a 2-0 second-period deficit.

The result allowed Vancouver (21-8-5) to move a point past Dallas and into second spot in the Western Conference, one point behind leader Detroit with a game in hand."
