http://www.kxl.com/AUDIO--Lighthouse-Vandalism-Case-Resolved/8847659 This shit pisses me off so much. Maybe I should go donkey punch the Lincoln memorial.
Supposedly it's extremely dangerous... so dangerous that they had to take out life insurance policies so they can still repay the fines even if they die.
I see no reason at all for them to escape 2 years in prison, AND pay the $30,000 up front, and have the rest of the debt garnished from their wages when they get out. It's a miracle they killed nobody, and those great jobs they have should go to someone more deserving. If they had sold an ounce and a half of weed they'd be serving time.
In my opinion, this is way worse than someone who is caught for prostitution or possession of an illegal substance. They destroyed an irreplaceable historical artifact, and they did so in an extremely violent manner. The fact that they can simply buy their way out of prison is absolutely shameful. These men should be serving AT LEAST two years behind bars for what they've done.
We have to make an example to prevent an epidemic. What if every American went out and shot up a lighthouse? What if an innocent baby had been up there cooing in her cradle and gotten her blue little eyes shot out? What about the brave sailors who will crash the rocky shores because on this moonless night, there is no guiding light?
Lighthouses are an affront to American freedom. People should be free to crash into the rocks wherever they please, and government should not try to stop them. This nanny state is destroying the salvaging industry and removing the people's motivation to learn to navigate for themselves. I think Thomas Jefferson said it best: "Every lighthouse vandalized is a blow for Liberty!" barfo
Although I agree with this, I'd still like to see something like 500 hours of community service each with their weekends for a few years. Maybe like cleaning the lighthouse toilets.
