he United Football League has confirmed that RICK MUELLER will return as the General Manager of the Omaha Nighthawks for the 2011 season.

Mueller was a key contributor to the success of the 2009 UFL Premiere season as his guidance and expertise helped assemble a league of talented coaches and players demonstrating high quality football. In 2010 he became General manager of the expansion team Nighthawks and was instrumental in compiling a roster that included former NFL stars Jeff Garcia, Ahman Green, Cato June and Robert Ferguson.

"Rick has a true understanding of how this league functions and will again be a valuable asset to the Nighthawks and the team's new head coach Joe Moglia," said UFL Commissioner MICHAEL HUYGHUE. "We believe he will work successfully alongside Joe to help build a team as successful on the field as the Nighthawks have been in establishing professional football and entertainment in Omaha."

Mueller will work with Moglia and his coaching staff in the coming weeks to coordinate player tryouts, player signings and the 2011 UFL Draft.

"I am thrilled to be returning for a second season with the Omaha Nighthawks," said Mueller. "We have built a fantastic fan base here in Omaha and we will work hard to give them a product on the field next season that they will be proud of. Coach Moglia and I have a great relationship and am excited to be working with him and the staff he is compiling."

Nighthawks head coach JOE MOGLIA added: "Rick has had extensive experience in the NFL and this will be his third year with the UFL and his second with Omaha. I am delighted to have the opportunity to work closely with him, not just for his General Manager and Player Personnel expertise, but for his leadership."

Prior to coming to the UFL, Mueller was Vice President of Player Personnel for the New Orleans Saints where his role ranged from evaluating current and future NFL free agents to studying college prospects and supervising and coordinating the organization's college and pro scouts.

In eight seasons in New Orleans, Mueller helped shape the club's last seven drafts and free-agent classes, which formed the foundation of a team that in 2006 captured the NFC South title and advanced to the NFC Championship Game. Mueller arrived at the Saints following a six-year stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he was instrumental in their rapid rise from expansion franchise in 1995 to AFC powerhouse.

In 13 NFL seasons, the teams that Mueller has helped build have compiled a record of 111-97 and earned six playoff appearances - including advancing to three conference championship games.
