Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville watched his team's 3-1 win over the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday from his hospital bed, and the victory left him in good spirits, assistant coach Mike Haviland said Thursday.

"I talked to Q late last night," said Haviland, who filled in again for Quenneville at practice on Thursday. "We talked about the game. He watched the majority of it. He was very pleased and very happy about the game.

"I know he has some tests today, but he was in really good spirits, joking and laughing on the phone. It was good to hear."

Quenneville was admitted to a hospital on Wednesday morning after being taken to the emergency room the previous night for what the Blackhawks described Thursday as gastrointestinal bleeding.
