The Minnesota Timberwolves granted center Eddy Curry his release and he went immediately to long-time trainer Tim Grover in Chicago to get himself into "playing shape."
Curry told people close to him that he'd be joining the Miami HEAT in the coming week.

There is no doubting Curry's issues… he has been injury plagued and massively overweight and out of shape for the last two seasons. However you can't ignore that in 2007-2008 he averaged 13.2 points and 4.7 rebounds per games on 25.9 minutes of playing time, his last meaningful minutes in three years.

Curry has never been a favorite of Knicks' coach Mike D'Antoni, so how much does Curry have left in the tank if given a fresh start and an opportunity to play?

Curry is a nine-year NBA veteran and would be eligible to sign a pro-rated NBA minimum contract worth roughly $325,000.

It's hard to see how a championship contender like Miami would risk bringing a bad influence into their locker room, but with Curry's size and his long lost ability in the paint, something the HEAT have none of, could he be the right gamble? He's telling people in Chicago he is.

Why would Miami waste their time with him?

The guy used to be a true post scorer, and quite gifted. Never rebounded worth a lick. If he can give Miami 24 minutes of his previous quality, they scored big for little ventured.

They would get more production bringing Zo back instead of giving Curry a chance.

I'm still disappointed in how he carried on his career in NY, offering nothing to the franchise. Getting the opportunity to play with the superfriends would make anyone turn into a serious ball player. He will work to get this opportunity.

Miami could benefit from Curry's size and more than likely his efforts will show; however, I don't see this ball club keeping him more than 1 season.

saying that curry will have any effect but a negative one is pretty silly. the guy has done nothing with his career, how could he possibly turn it around this quickly?

i think he just wants to play with miami where there are three superstars that are going to leave him open, plus they are lacking a center. this guy is trouble, its a stupid move to sign him.

I'd still take Curry over Dampier.

would be funny tho...miami are already clueless on the court, adding another one would surely sink the ship.

Curry still isn't on the Heat roster. We shouldn't expect to see him on there anytime soon.
