FC Dallas beat Euro powers to Colombia U-20 star
    [IMG]
Addition of Castillo may lead to change in tactics for Hyndman

After months of scouting and traveling in search of the right striker, FC Dallas have found their guy in 18-year-old Fabián Castillo of Colombian side Deportivo Cali.

A member of the Colombian Under-20 national team, Castillo is judged by many to be one of the top prospects in his country. FC Dallas manager Schellas Hyndman has equally high hopes of what his new signing can accomplish in MLS.

I wouldn't expect competence in English to be a necessity for "top contributor" status, and you certainly prove that....but surely the ability to answer the question at hand is.

FC Dallas release Colombian vet Rodríguez, Marosevic
    [IMG]
Striker failed to make impact this season; TFC pick up Marosevic

FC Dallas' Colombian contingent just got a little smaller.

On Thursday, the club announced that it released forward Milton Rodríguez.

Rodríguez, 35, had been hampered by injuries as of late. The Colombian forward, who joined FCD in May of last year, has played in just 13 games out of 22 this season for Dallas, getting the starting nod just five times. He scored just one goal and added an assist.

Last year, Rodríguez finished as the club’s third-highest scorer, tallying five times in 13 matches before an injury suffered in the first playoff game against Real Salt Lake kept him out for the remainder of the year.

The club also announced the release of Peri Marosevic, the 22-year-old forward who failed to carve himself a regular spot on the roster since he was drafted by FCD in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft. The University of Michigan alum was immediately snapped up by Toronto FC, however, and became the 12th new player added to the Reds squad since opening day in Aron Winter's continuing shake-up.

    FCD re-sign Hernandez to three-year player-coach deal
Veteran to play at least one more season before moving to sideline

FC Dallas midfielder and captain Daniel Hernandez is leader on the field, and now he’ll be a leader on the sideline, too.

On Wednesday, the club announced they had signed Hernandez, 34, to a three-year contract as a player-coach. The new deal will see the 13-year veteran suit up as a player for at least one more season before joining head coach Schellas Hyndman on the bench.

FCD seek new stadium name after Pizza Hut pulls out
Frisco complex to be called FC Dallas Stadium until sponsor found

Pizza Hut Park is no more – at least in name.

FC Dallas confirmed on Wednesday that their home in Frisco, Texas, will no longer carry the only naming rights it has held since its official opening in August of 2005.

With the locally based fast-food conglomerate withdrawing, the club is seeking a new sponsor to carry the stadium name – as well as the 17 adjacent fields on the suburban complex. In the interim, it will officially be known as FC Dallas Stadium following the NCAA Division I football championship game between Sam Houston State and North Dakota State on Jan. 7.

FC Dallas sign forward Perez, defender Pertuz
FCD finally splash with Panamanian star, Colombian center back

FC Dallas’ quiet offseason just got officially loud. The club announced on Tuesday that is has agreed to terms with Panamanian striker Blas Pérez and Colombian defender Hernán Pertúz.

The duo marks the club’s first acquisitions of the offseason, and they’re big ones. The 30-year-old Pérez has been a prolific marksman over his 14-year career. The 6-foot-1 forward has bagged more than 150 goals on his various club stops, including in Panama, Colombia, Spain, Mexico and the United Arab Emirates.

    Recap:
FCD stun Revs 1-0 on Ihemelu's late header

FRISCO, Texas – Ugo Ihemelu headed in a scintillating goal deep into stoppage time to give FC Dallas a last-gasp 1-0 win over the New England Revolution on Thursday night at FC Dallas Stadium.

Zach Loyd placed a perfect ball from a free kick onto the left side of the box in the 95th minute and the FC Dallas captain took advantage, rising to put the ball past Revs 'keeper Matt Reis for the winner.

Despite injuries and suspensions, FC Dallas were sparked by a return home and ended a two-game losing streak, halting New England’s two-game winning streak in the process.

The hosts dominated the game from start to finish but just couldn’t bury the ball in the back of the net as Reis made key save after save.

Dallas were energized by the return of forward Fabián Castillo after a three-game layoff. The Colombian speedster gave the Revolution fits all night long.

FCD find "hero partner" in sponsorship deal with AdvoCare
    [IMG]

FRISCO, Texas – They say good things come to those who wait.

It has certainly been a long road for FC Dallas and president Doug Quinn in finding the perfect “hero partner” as their club’s jersey sponsor, but the organization feels it has found a winner in AdvoCare.

“Our ultimate goal was to identify the perfect partner. I think we’ve found them,” Quinn said in a Wednesday morning press conference. “What makes this even more perfect is that they are Texas-based. We can drive 15 minutes over to their corporate headquarters to meet with their executive team ... to talk about how we can make this partnership something extremely special.”

Quinn was brought to Dallas in the summer of 2010 with one of his main tasks being to find a jersey sponsor for an FC Dallas team that was one of the only MLS franchises to have never had a sponsor. It’s been a tricky road, but the signing of AdvoCare, almost two years to the day that Quinn was hired, is a vindicating moment for him and a major moment in the history of the franchise.

Danny Koevermans strikes again in Reds & Hoops 1-1 draw

FRISCO, Texas – Toronto FC continued their revival under head coach Paul Mariner, extending their unbeaten streak to five games with a 1-1 draw against FC Dallas at a sold-out FC Dallas Stadium on Wednesday. The draw continued the home side’s slump, extending their franchise-record winless streak to 12 games, now tied for the fifth-longest in MLS history.

FCD jumped out to a dream start with their earliest goal of the season. In the fifth minute, a Daniel Hernandez corner was cleared to Jackson 35 yards from goal. The Brazilian sent a curling ball to Andrew Jacobson, whose smart header back across the box was in turn headed home by Zach Loyd for his second goal of the year.

De Guzman enjoying change of scenery with FC Dallas
    [IMG]

FRISCO, Texas – Though a decision on his future looms at the end of the season, for the time being Julian de Guzman is relishing his change of scenery and change of playing style with FC Dallas.

“To be honest, being here reminds me of the times I played in Spain where they enjoy playing football and that’s what they look to do,” de Guzman told MLSsoccer.com. “It’s a pleasure being a part of this once again after three years in Toronto, which was a bit different. There was a point where they wanted to play like this, but the difference is the quality of players.”

The Canadian international was traded from Toronto FC to Dallas on July 13 and while a few weeks ago a return to Europe at the year’s end looked like a formality, it seems that the 31-year-old’s decision may have become a bit tougher as he integrates in to the FCD squad

    Closing The Gap
FCD leap closer to the playoff spots with a vital win in Vancouver

VANCOUVER, B.C. — FC Dallas are still in the hunt. Continuing their push for the playoffs, the Texan side scored two goals within 10 minutes to defeat the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-0 at BC Place on Wednesday night.

Fabián Castillo opened the scoring in the 60th minute, receiving a flick on from fellow Colombian David Ferreira before juking past a couple of ‘Caps defenders and slotting a ball in off the post. The play started from a Zach Loyd throw-in, and when the ball came to Castillo, he did well to get off his shot despite falling on the play.

Ten minutes later, Dallas made it two through substitute Jonathan Top. Ferreira made the play once again, outmuscling Andy O’Brien and beating Martín Bonjour on the dribble before setting Top up for the tap-in.

Playoffs in reach of FCD as they down RSL, 2-1

SANDY, Utah — David Ferreira's clinical blast in the 94th minute gave FC Dallas a 2-1 win over Real Salt Lake on Saturday night at Rio Tinto Stadium.

An FC Dallas goal in the 61st minute from a Fabián Castillo and Ferreira give-and-go looked like it just may give the visitors three points, but Real Salt Lake's Álvaro Saborío headed in a goal in the 76th minute off a corner from Javier Morales to draw even.

FCD's playoff hopes dented as Sounders earn draw in Texas

FRISCO, Texas – Two players returning to the starting lineup after long injury layoffs provided goals for their teams as FC Dallas and Seattle Sounders FC played to a 1-1 draw at a steamy FC Dallas Stadium on Sunday.

The draw moves Seattle a point clear of the LA Galaxy in the hotly contested Western Conference while FCD leave their stadium four points behind Vancouver Whitecaps for the fifth and final playoff spot with five games left

Recap: FCD hold on for dear life as Chivas earn 1-1 draw
    [IMG]

CARSON, Calif. – FC Dallas squandered an opportunity to stay in close contention for an MLS Cup playoff spot by failing to protect a lead and settled for a 1-1 draw with Chivas USA at the Home Depot Center on Sunday.

Jorge Villafaña scored a 69th-minute equalizer and Kevin Hartman was forced into three big saves in the final minutes as Dallas were forced to settle for a point.

FCD are now four points back of Vancouver for the fifth and final Western Conference playoff spot. Each side has two games remaining, which means FC Dallas must have at least one win and one draw over their final two (at Seattle, Chivas) while Vancouver cannot win of their last two (Portland, at Real Salt Lake).

Baladez scores brace, Warshaw seals win over Atlante

CANCUN, Mexico -- New Homegrown forward Bradlee Baladez delivered two goals in the first 30 minutes, while Bobby Warshaw picked up a third goal late to give FC Dallas a 3-2 victory over Atlante here Thursday afternoon.

Baladez capitalized on an Atlante defensive miscue in the 11th minute to net the first goal of the match. Warshaw stripped a defender in the Dallas attacking third and the ball took a favorable bounce into the path of Baladez, who calmly slotted home the opportunity.
