Super competitive...heard some would steal books to fuck up the curves on the finals.
Just yesterday night, I was in the library at my uni, and this white chick was going off about something. Then she started cussing out the people she was supposedly studying with and was thrown out. It was hilarious. I can't study at home because I get so distracted, but studying in the library at my current university is nearly impossible because its so loud. Undergrad was a whole 'nother story. It was ideal conditions, because we had designated QUIET rooms.
I thought it was too quiet at the library, went crazy in there. Always studied at coffee shops or even the mall food court. at libraries you always bump into people you know and end up talking to them. then taking a break or whatever.
That's what it was like for me too. It's too quiet there. I think the one time I tried to do some late night studying a the library at UW it was full of Asians sleeping on the tables. It was pretty hilarious. Although I can't judge the, my dad once went into the PSU library to find my mom and aunts (Chinese) doing the same thing.
Just for shits and giggles I should go into the UCLA library and start frying fish in the library. haha.
LINK I read an article a few months ago regarding schools being considered "too asian" I've noticed in my program that most of the asian students do not work and have turned down teaching assistantships because they fear it would get in the way of studying. There's enormous pressure to get good grades

I just spent an hour reading your link. Very good article, full of interesting issues. The best ideas are always those which seem obvious after you hear them. like this: The difference between American and the studious Asian cultures is increased by U.S. immigration policies, which admit only people with degrees. So most Asian-American children are raised in degreed families.
Other than things going sideways at 2:25 of the video for a few seconds when she says "the tsunami thing", what about that video is supposed to offend me? Don't get me wrong. It's stupid for a supposedly intelligent student at UCLA to post that video, but in terms of the actual content, I guess I don't see the big deal.
