After a loss against the Green Bay Gamblers last night that closed the season series against Green Bay with a 4-3-0 record for Dubuque, the Fighting Saints traveled to take on the rival Waterloo Black Hawks for the fifth time this season on Saturday night. The Fighting Saints are in the midst of a busy three game weekend as they will travel to Chicago to play the Steel on Sunday afternoon. Dubuque met Waterloo as the Black Hawks were in the midst of a playoff battle for the final Eastern Conference spot.

Zemgus Girgensons scored on a give and go play to give the Fighting Saints a 1-0 lead in the first period. Vince Hinostroza answered back with a goal for Waterloo, as he tied the game with around five minutes remaining in the first frame. The game remained knotted after the first twenty minutes.

The teams traded goals once more in the second period. TJ Moor scored his fourth goal of the season for Dubuque to once again give the Saints the lead. Hinostroza would answer once again for Waterloo, however, tying the game with three minutes left in the period.

The Saints scored three times in the third period to secure the lead. Jordan DiGiando scored the winning goal for Dubuque, getting an assist from Scott Wamsganz, a former Black Hawk. TJ Schlueter added some insurance minutes later and TJ Moor scored an empty netter to seal the deal. Dubuque returns to the ice tomorrow afternoon in Chicago.
