Game 1: Portland Shuts Out Everett, 4-0

    Mac Carruth stopped all 32 shots faced Saturday night to lead the Portland Winterhawks to a 4-0 win over the Silvertips at the Rose Garden. Luke Siemens made 31 saves in net for Everett. Ryan Johansen led the scoring charge for Portland with one goal and two assists. The Winterhawks now lead the Western Conference Quarter-Final best of seven series 1-0.

    Portland's first goal of the game came at 4:46 on the power play. Riley Boychuk scored his first of the playoffs to give the Winterhakws a 1-0 lead. Brendan Leipsic increased Portland's score at 7:26 of the period with an assist to Boychuk to make the score 2-0. Johansen scored a shorthanded goal just 41 seconds later to give the Winterhakws a 3-0 lead after the first period.

    Everett responded with a strong second period. Despite no scoring between both teams in the frame, the Silvertips outshot the Winterhawks 16-12 in the second.

    Brad Ross concluded the scoring for Portland at 12:28 of the third period to finish a 4-0 Portland win.
