Brewer: Early struggles undermine Mariners' rebuilding plans

    I don't think anyone on the team is naive enough to not see this coming. That said, Jerry Brewer thinks that it's near the tipping point of going horribly awry.

    I'm generally optimistic, and it's holding true here. My hope is that Milton, Cust, Wilson and Bedard can show something and get us some prospects as rentals this summer. Guti coming back, Ichiro and Figgins finding some compatibilty at the top of the lineup, Smoak coming around, Ackley coming up, the #2 pick coming onboard, and maybe a sighting of Liddi or Franklin this fall? those are the types of things I'm looking forward to. And those don't change if we have a 15-game losing streak.
