Kyle Lohse allowed just two hits in throwing his second shutout as a Cardinal, as the Redbirds blanked the Nationals 5-0 on Thursday afternoon.

Matt Holliday hit a two-run homer in the first and Albert Pujols hit a two-run homer in the eighth for the Cardinals. The Cardinals got just six hits off four Washington pitchers; three of the Cardinals who scored reached base on walks.

Lohse faced four batters over the minimum, and Washington got more than one runner on base in an inning just once. Jayson Werth singled and Adam LaRoche walked with two out in the fourth, but Lohse got Ian Desmond to ground into an inning ending force out.
