Gonzaga starting point guard Demetri Goodson has decided to transfer in order to play football, the school announced Tuesday. The 6-foot, 175-pound junior would have two years of football eligiblity remaining, according to Gonzaga, which does not offer football. Goodson is the brother of Carolina Panthers running back Mike Goodson, who played at Texas A&M. "I have decided to pursue football next year," Goodson said in a statement. "I would like to thank my coaches and staff for the opportunity to play here. I also want to thank the city of Spokane and all of the Zags fans who have supported me over the years. It's been an awesome experience." Goodson started all 35 games as a junior, averaging 5.2 points and 2.6 assists to help the Zags to an 11th consecutive West Coast Conference title. His spot could be filled by freshman David Stockton, the former walk-on who is the son of Hall of Famer John Stockton. The Zags also have incoming freshman Kevin Pangos from Canada.
