Lets say a Eastern Conference team moves out west. Would a team from the West then move to the East? IE, if the Thrashers go to Winnipeg, Would the league put the BJ's in the east?

If the Thrashers do go to Winnipeg, I think Nashville will move to the Southeast and then be an Eastern conference team.

Yeah, Nashville makes the most sense.

Pretty cool that the Jets are so close to being back.

Why would Nashville move to the east when Detroit and C-Bus are on EST? Nashville is on CST.

I don't think time zones are so important.

You have never had your team play a game at 10:30 at night, and have to be at work at 7am before, have you?

West-coasters are usually feeling hard done by because their stuff starts too early...

Would you seriously put Detroit or Columbus in the SOUTHEAST division?

No, but maybe rename it to something cool, like the Northsouth East Division

Why split up the Red Wings, Hawks rivalry? Unless they make the original six teams play more than they do now.

I feel like every Original Six team has somewhat of a rivalry.

you think the NHL would prefer to move columbus out east because it might be easier for them to make the playoffs and for their fans to catch games on tv? Their fan base is less stable compared to nashville and detroit and maybe the NHL doesn't want another southern US market to fail?

Teams with the worst attendance: Islanders (Lighthouse Project pending), Coyotes (moving to Quebec City), Thrashers (moving to Winnipeg), and the Blue Jackets (reportedly hemorrhaging $10m a year, but most teams post losses due to creative accounting). The Jackets averaged only about 2,000 more fans per game when they made the playoffs a few years ago but 85% capacity is still towards the bottom of the league. Worse when you consider the BJ's are the only pro team in town in the winter. Better off in Hamilton or Kit-Loo.

If anyones moving to Quebec City I think it would by the Islanders. Coyotes can go to Seattle.

    Shut your troll face up.

I am an idiot. Why would you want to be a big fish surrounded by equally big fish , when you can be the fish all the other fish want to be like? We might not be in the Stanley Cup finals every year, but we always have a punchers shot.

    How about this..
Northwest: Canucks, Flames, Oilers, Wild, Winnieg
Pacific: Sharks, Kings, Ducks, Coyotes, Stars
Central: Blackhawks, Red Wings, Blues, Blue Jackets, Avalanche
Northeast: Habs, Senators, Maple Leafs, Sabres, Bruins
Atlantic: Penguins, Flyers, Rangers, Islanders, Devils
Southeast: Capitals, Lightning, Hurricanes, Panthers, Predators

Only three teams switch divisions. Put the Avalanche in the Central division is smart because they are more Central than Northwest. Sending the Predators down to the Southeast, since they are basically South enough and east enough. Then placing Winnipeg in the Northwest. The West does get a bit weaker with the removal of the Predators.
