"According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Deron Williams has left his agent, Bob McClaren and reportedly will sign with Leon Rose -- the agent for Carmelo Anthony and a member of the Creative Artists Agency, which represents LeBron James.

Neither McClaren nor Rose returned messages left for them today. McClaren was still listed officially as Williams' agent as of this afternoon, but Williams is not listed among McClaren's clients on his website.

What would it mean to the Nets if Williams signs with Rose?

It might help in their quest for assembling a roster of stars impressive enough to convince Williams to re-sign with the Nets when he becomes a free agent in 2012. After all, CAA is probably the most powerful agency in the league. They were the ones behind LeBron's "Decision'' last year, so it's entirely possible they could do the same sort of thing for the Nets next year and get one or two big name players to join up with Williams in Brooklyn next summer."
