The sports betting world watched as the Boston Bruins broke a 29-year drought and won the Stanley Cup. The online casino fans got to watch the Vancouver Canucks fail to win the big games yet again. But on the plus side for the Canucks, the games they are losing are becoming more and more significant.

For all of the NHL news headlines the Vancouver Canucks made in the 2010-2011 season, the Canucks head up a list of teams that are headed for a tumble in 2011-2012. As everyone waits patiently to see if there will be NFL betting picks this year, let’s take a look at the teams that may never want the 2011-2012 NHL season to start.

    Vancouver Canucks
When you are playing for a championship, your real colors come out. The Bruins played a hard-nosed style of hockey that was big on the physical play but shied away from the cheap shots. The Canucks bit, speared and blindsided their way to a loss in the 2010-2011 finals. The Canucks performed more dives than the Canadian Olympic swimming team and were a general embarrassment to NHL fans. If the Canucks do not make some changes before the 2011-2012 season, then they are in for more disappointment next year. The axe needs to start swinging goaltender Roberto Luongo’s way and continue on through the rest of the roster. If this team is kept together, Canucks fans can expect more of the same.

    Washington Capitals
The best thing about the Washington Capitals is Alex Ovechkin. The worst thing that happens to the Capitals in the playoffs is Alex Ovechkin. Just because Oveckin takes all the heat when Washington bows out of the playoffs does not mean he has to feel like he is the only one that can make a play. There is not much more the Capitals can add or subtract to or from their roster to improve the team. From goaltending to coaching, this is a Stanley Cup contender. But Ovechkin tries to take the weight of the team on his shoulder and he buckles. Until Alex Ovechkin starts to distribute the puck more and realize that he has teammates, the Capitals will be a disappointment every season.

    Detroit Red Wings
The 2010-2011 season was the last shot at a Cup for this Detroit Red Wings’ team for a while. The key elements of this team are old and either retiring or considering retirement. Goalie Jimmy Howard is not the big-time goalie that the Red Wings are trying to portray him as. It will take the Red Wings a couple of years to replace a player the caliber of Niklas Lidstrom. Even if Lidstrom comes back, he is only a shell of his former self and the Red Wings need to start thinking about a new anchor for the defensive corps. There are too many holes in the Red Wings roster to expect the team to stay at the top of the NHL standings in 2011-2012.
