Undefeated light welterweight contender Mike Alvarado (31-0, 22 KO’s) easily beat a badly overmatched Gabriel Martinez (27-3-1, 14 KO’s) by a one-sided 10 round unanimous decision to win the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) Latino light welterweight title at the Softball Arena in Denver, Colorado. Whoever said this was supposed to be a competitive fight needs to have their head examined, because Alvarado, 31, spent the entire fight chasing Martinez around the ring and punishing him with hard shots.
