Loyd and Pearce are out for both matches. Dempsey won't be traveling to LA for the Costa Rica match. Chris Pontius and Jonathan Spector have joined the squad to replaced the injured defenders. Fabian Johnson is not likely to be eligible for the friendlies. He has to fill out a switch to play for the US since he represented Germany 20 times at various youth levels and he's only started that process recently.

Break On Through Americans get it right, give Klinsmann first win as head coach MIAMI – A craftsman’s goal from Clint Dempsey and stellar goalkeeper from Tim Howard gave Jurgen Klinsmann his first win as US coach Saturday night with a 1-0 victory over Honduras before 21,170 fans at Sun Life Stadium. After starting his tenure with two losses and a tie, Klinsmann finally got a winning result to go along with the refreshing optimism he has brought to the US program. Dempsey scored in the 36th minute, calmly curling a left-footed shot into the upper 90 after a corralling a Brek Shea cross. Howard made the goal stand with two world-class saves, one to keep it scoreless early and another in the second half that preserved the result. http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2011-10-08-usa-vs-honduras/recap

US soccer announces roster to face France, Slovenia Five MLSers called into camp, including Beckerman and Donovan US NATIONAL TEAM ROSTER GOALKEEPERS (2): Bill Hamid (D.C. United), Tim Howard (Everton/England) DEFENDERS (7): Carlos Bocanegra (Rangers/Scotland), Timmy Chandler (Nürnberg/Germany), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96/Germany), Clarence Goodson (Brøndby/Denmark), Alfredo Morales (Hertha Berlin/Germany), Michael Orozco Fiscal (San Luis/Mexico), Oguchi Onyewu (Sporting Lisbon/Portugal) MIDFIELDERS (9): Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Michael Bradley (Chievo Verona/Italy), Clint Dempsey (Fulham/England), Maurice Edu (Rangers/Scotland), Fabian Johnson (Hoffenheim/Germany), Jermaine Jones (Schalke 04/Germany), Robbie Rogers (Columbus Crew), Brek Shea (FC Dallas), Danny Williams (Hoffenheim/Germany) FORWARDS (4): Jozy Altidore (AZ Alkmaar/Netherlands), DaMarcus Beasley (Puebla/Mexico), Edson Buddle (Ingolstadt/Germany), Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy) http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2011/11/03/us-soccer-announces-roster-face-france-slovenia
Not a fan of the roster. Alfredo Morales belongs in the U23 camp, not here. George John and Omar Gonzalez should have been called in if teammates Shea and Donovan were. Beckerman and Donovan will have to be replaced. Hopefully Beckerman isn't replaced with Jeff Larentowicz or another defensive midfielder. And Robbie Rogers and Michael Orozco Fiscal are terrible. I'd rather see John get called in (Gonzalez will be staying with LA through the break) or Michael Parkhurst. In midfield, Sacha Kljestan has been one of the better players for Anderlecht this year and can be the link between the defensive midfielders and the attackers and Klinsmann seems to be looking for with Torres and Holden injured.
Here's who I'd like to see start: Howard Cherundolo-Onyewu-Bocanegra-Chandler Bradley-Williams-Edu Dempsey-Altidore-Shea I think its more likely that we'll be stuck with Orozco over Onyewu and Beckerman over Edu. The second of the two isn't so bad as Beckerman has been solid. Onyewu is carrying an injury, but I'd still much rather see him over Orozco, who is just terrible.
Finishing Well Buddle, Dempsey, Altidore score as US defeat Slovenia in 2011 finale Revenge of a sort gave the US national team a win in their final match of 2011. Edson Buddle, Clint Dempsey and Jozy Altidore each scored in the first half as the United States defeated Slovenia, 3-2, on a foggy night at Stožice Stadium in Ljubljana on Tuesday. The two teams tied 2-2 under controversial circumstances during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, where the US were denied a seemingly good late winner. The Americans' trio of goals on this night were one more than their previous total in six games under the guidance of Jurgen Klinsmann. The win marked Klinsmann’s second victory in charge, taking his record as US manager to 2-4-1 in the final international match scheduled for 2011. http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2011-11-15-slovenia-vs-usa/recap

The two games will wrap up Jurgen Klinsmann’s first January camp at the helm of the US national team. Rumor Central: Canada to host US in WCQ tuneup? The Canadian Soccer Association is set to make a few big announcements on Thursday, but who saw this one coming? Rumors are that the CSA will not only announce the sites for Canada's World Cup Qualifying matches on Thursday, but it appears they'll also drop the news that Canada will host the US sometime in a friendly tuneup before the qualifiers. The Canucks lead the series 6-3-1 in matches played in Canada all-time, dating back to 1925.
