Rampage suspected a member of his training camp was a spy for Jon Jones, relaying information back to the manager of the Team Jackson fighter, Malki Kawa (the guy Matt Mitrione fired live on television). His suspicion stemmed from a secret knee injury he had prior to his fight with Rashad Evans, when in the fight Jackson claims Evans targeted the knee with punches. Rampage claims he used a clever little scheme that involved faking a hand injury, circulating the information to the suspected spy, and waiting by the phone. Rampage says Joe Silva called him from Rio to ask if he'd injured his hand, information he'd been given by Kawa, confirming his suspicions. Kawa claims to have heard the information "from a friend" or "on Twitter" but neither excuse seems believable. mmajunkie.com/news/25020/ufc-135s-quinton-jackson-says-hes-rooted-out-jon-jones-spy.mma
Kawa's Twitter claims are totally hollow at this point since he is unwilling to cite the "person who sent him the tweet" nor is any evidence of Rampage's injury on Twitter's backlogs. Kawa and Jones were invited on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani yesterday (Rampage appeared) to clear things up but declined. Going to have to score this one for Mr. Bungalows. In related news, the spy will be outed on Twitter when Rampage knows who it is for sure. I imagine he already knows but needs confirmation. Apparently Helwani knows as well but is keeping it to himself for the time being.
whaat? It was only a few days ago when I read a quote from Rampage saying that he wouldn't publicly out the snitch if he knew because that's not how he rolls....so much for that I guess.
