he's 17, whats in his head this moment? Keep that in mind Interviewer- Tell me about Florida, are they still your leader? BC- "Uh Oregon, Oregon is still leading" he goes on to say nice things about various schools & how he may announce the end of next month (Sept 28th) or may push that back. If he visits (& I'd guess he will) I like our chances. Lists his schools 1 Oregon 2 FSU 3 UF 4 Bama STOMP
hearing Safety Marvell Tell, DB Micah Abernathy WR Ryan Newsome & Stanford DT commit Rex Manu may be among visitors this weekend. Also hearing Oregon pulled the plug on LB Cassius Peat's planned OV. Oregon commits Calvin Throckmorton & PJ Locke will be taking in the game on his OV. STOMP
very often it can be the staff feeling very good about a prospect at similar position, that they rate higher (I.E. the WR whose visit was supposed to be with Lovette, and then the staff pushed it back, and then Lovette committed. and probably Newsome was rated higher on their board as well.
to add to what Wheels said, it may also be that Oregon found something out that they didn't like. Could be they don't feel his interest is sincere and he just wants to take in a big game. Could be a character issue. Could be a lot of things. But since schools are prohibited from talking about individual recruits, we'll only know what the recruits relay. In this case, Cassius relayed that Oregon told him he wasn't invited to attend this weekend's game which probably doesn't bode well for the potential of him becoming a Duck... next! STOMP
Our island connections must be building a nice pipeline! Think about this, we could have Tui, Austin, Manu, Canton and Mafileo all on the D line by this time next year!
speculation is that like Canton he might not qualify getting into Stanford. Wonder if just scheduled OV for Tevis Barlett (10/17 vs Washington) might have something to do with Peat's cancelled visit? STOMP
Not sure about that with peat because we have the lb spots, i'm hoping for good news witha high board recruit. Other option is we saw somthing we didn't like.
Grabbing Manu and Canton will be nice. Also, no way we get Merritt. TAMU and LSU won't let him go. If he has 4 stars, they latch onto them like leeches. What about getting another big WR? I mean, we have Taj and Malik. Better get a WR in the vein of Ofadile/Jalen Browne. Ykili Ross, Equanimous St. Brown, Cordell Broadus and Jaylin Hawkins comes to mind. And I take it this Tevis kid and Mufi Hunt will be recruited at OLB?
rumors are Oregon would make room for a true top talent like Merritt or Tyron Johnson, but short of that they're done recruiting WRs in this cycle. I'm hearing ILB for the 3 time state heavyweight wrestling champ. Hunt is probably a fall back plan if they fail to land higher OLB targets. If he is scheduled for an OV, it probably means they don't feel so good about KLS who is scheduled to visit vs Stanford at the end of October. 2016 QB Seth Green, S Marvell Tell, DB Micah Abernathy, & DT Rex Manu were in attendance along with Duck commits Taj Griffin, PJ Locke, Brady Aiello & Calvin Throckmorton STOMP
I heard Green was gonna commit that night but backed off. Heard he got an MSU offer. Glad to see we impresed those other guys!
Green received an MSU offer a week ago. I read an article of his reaction to the game and safe to say he really enjoyed himself... though he's from the Midwest, he said he was rooting for the Ducks STOMP
Well we did get Pharaoh Brown and some key Texas guys... I have faith in pulling a Minnesota kid. So, what are the next official visits?
Rex Manu decommits from Stanford names Oregon as his #1 http://www.oregonlive.com/recruiting/index.ssf/2014/09/rex_manu_3-star_defensive_tack.html "That visit was just amazing," he gushed. "All the facilities, the players, the coaches, the team, the unity that they have is everything I'm looking for. I'm trying to keep my mind open, look at some other schools before I make a decision, but seeing Oregon, it's kind of hard to imagine that any other schools can really compete." STOMP
it doesn't follow that they'd give someone an OV and not offer a full ride unless something went really wrong during the trip STOMP
