No one (except Jason Terry) picked the Mavs at this time last year.

No one here ever thought they'd come close. So when people in here act like they know everything, I'm gonna remember that. No one picked Dallas. And everyone was convinced it was impossible to beat the Lakers, let alone sweep them in the second round. I'll remember this.

    And congrats to the Mavs.

Insight into their championship run. Perhaps we're not as far off as people believe.

We definitely gave the Mavs a run for their money, more than any other team. We deserve a cookie.

Why am I suddenly filled with a vision of Charlie Brown, Lucy and a football?

No, not really. I just find this yearly ritual kind of tedious.

I find the yearly ritual of people jerking each other off with ridiculously high expectations tedious. I've been listening to "championship" talk for the past five years. Hell, it'd be nice just to get out of the first round; that's my hope.

Hope for a title is one thing (hey there's always a chance, no matter how miniscule) but what I read here is people talking themselves into one this year ... based on what evidence is the question?

well, in this particular thread, the evidence is that we played the champs the toughest out of anyone last year, and look to be improved

The pleasure of being a sports fan is blinded optimism.
