Hoopsworld says the nets are Prepared to trade dwill if they do t get Howard. I think we could definitely be able to put a package together toget him as lo g as he is willing to extend his contract and play here... Felton,Wallace/batum and maybe some picks? What do u guys think?

It would take more, but the Blazers should happily pay more

Trade Wallace or Nic. Not both. Preferably, Wallace, as Nic will be here long term.

I'd give up Felton (exp), Gerald (exp if he declines option), Nolan, Claver, Elliot, Oden, and picks for Deron.

Then pick up Patty and Joel to fill out the roster.

I guess I am of the opinion that Williams is better than anything on our roster, so why would anything be untouchable? Williams is a player you can build around. No one on our roster now is that player. LA is damn close though

If the whole point is to pair up two (or more?) 'A' level players who can strain an opponent's defense to the breaking point, then you do whatever it takes to make that happen. I like Nic a lot, but I like the notion of a Deron-LaMarcus tandem more.

Exactly. I think the trade will have to center around Nic at this point though. Why would NJ want Gerald? He's not really superstar material and he's 29. I'm not sure Nic is enough though. As I suspected, if NJ can't get Howard, they will be desperate because I don't think Williams wants to be there. I'd make a last minute pitch and if that doesn't work, try to sign Williams in the off season.

Didn't he say he doesn't care about playing in big markets as much as the other stars? I could have sworn someone on here posted something like that a while back...

    The Nets would want
    (a) young, good players on rookie contracts
    (b) lottery draft picks
    (c) salary cap relief

Golden State might be tempted to offer Curry, especially with his ongoing ankle issues. Best we could offer is
    (a) Batum [edit: and as yuyuza has suggested, Greg]
    (b) Freeland's rights? Plus picks down the road
    (c) Camby for cap relief
Maybe Felton as well, as they can kick his tires but not commit beyond this season.

But I can't see them really trading him unless he's told them he's gone. And even then: a person's mind can be changed.

Why would NJ want Wallace? They'll be just like the Bobcats!

    Ooh... BIG concession!

It's no accident we got Wallace for cheap. He's only of value to teams that are looking to contend RIGHT NOW.

And a free state of Kansas jello mold!

Hmm. I hadn't really thought about that. I wonder if Greg would interest them? I have no idea if he has any value around the league. I'm not sure what I would think about that. There would be a part of me that would scream "NOOOO - there's STILL A CHANCE!!!" and another part that would be glad to end the false hopes.

    I endorse that message.

Thinking about it: I think if we were prepared to include Batum and Oden and Elliot and Nolan (still got that NCAA buzz) AND the rights to Freeland AND picks (and Felton if they want him), they might listen (assuming they've already decided that they're going to trade him - not otherwise).

    Would people do that trade?

(But I have a feeling that the minute we said they couldn't have Aldridge, they'd hang up.)

I didn't even realize I put Oden last, after the other filler crap we have. It's subconscious, but holy shit. That guy has fallen far.

As long as he were resigned, I'd give up anything but LA for Deron.

    Tired of crappy PGs.

He won't come here but if he did, i'd order season tickets for the next 4 seasons (after robbing a bank to get the cash).

Williams has came out and said he doesn't care if he plays in a big market, or not. He just wants to win.

I think he would re-sign here as long as we don't break the team to get him. With that said, we might be able to just sign him outright in the offseason.

NJ says they will trade William for Howard and that somehow translate to Blazer fans that we can trade Felton and Wallace for Williams?

DWill is softening his stance on big/small markets as he admitted that if you aren't an uber-star like LeBron your endorsements are always going to stay at a certain level regardless of what city you play in.

Btw, with the way Williams has played this season I don't think they will get anything close to the prospect (Favors) they gave up for him.

Why does Deron Williams suck now?

What is the deal? He is scary bad this year.

And, why are there so many Williams on the Nets?
