What are some guys you'd like to see the Blazers go after in the 2012 draft?

I think the Blazers are going to be picking somewhere between 12-20. I hope they'll try and get a couple more mid or lotto firsts. I really like this draft, there's a lot of potential, ton of super athletic players.

With that said....some guys I'd like to see the Blazers go after (and are realistic)

    Kendall Marshall
-Amazing court vision that doesn't grow on trees. He's a tremendous passer and team player. Next Rajon Rondo. Andre Miller at worst. He could come in and start right away.

    Meyers Leonard
-Huge upside and starting to put it together. Good touch offensively and nice potential on defense. Can pass really well and seems like he could operate in the high post like Camby (which we need). COTF?

    Austin Rivers
-Of all the players we might have a shot at, Rivers is probably the player who is best at creating his own shot. We desperately need a scorer not named Jamal Crawford. Rivers could be it.

Portland will get into the playoffs somehow and miss out on any real talent.

And just say FUCK NO to drafting a white stiff in the first round

The difference in talent level between the end of the lottery and the 7th/8th seed pick we'll get really isn't that much at all.

There's a ton of really good talent in this draft. I think you can find a solid player anywhere in the 1st round. If we draft some player that we stash overseas I'm going to gouge out my eyes.

We need a GM in place before the draft. I don't want another Chad Buchanon draft.

This. If anything good comes out of this season, it should be the front office knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt that we need a perimeter player who can "close" games. Rivers fits that mold. If we can get him, we need to.

Leonard isn't a stiff. He's skilled and athletic. He is white though, so you got half of it right.

    Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Why do you have to generalize? Can't you look up the prospect before you proclaim him a white stiff?

I bet people said the same thing about Kevin Love.

EDIT: Ironically, you're username refers to a white stiff.

And less than a week ago, you were saying how you liked Withey and Plumlee.

    Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

I haven't really looked at any mocks in months, so I have no idea about who's hot and who's not, but Jeremy Lamb intrigues me, Rivers would be fine, Kendall Marshall might be OK, The McAdoo kid might be pretty good ... Honestly I don't care, as long it's not another supposed "white 3 point shooter" and not another combo guard.

Ideally, whomever the hell is running things now, should be working the phones trying to flip some of our expiring contracts for picks so we can have more than just one crack at this thing.

I don't think I said I liked Withey, but I do like Plumlee in the lower part of the 1st round. He is super athletic

    Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

I say this somewhat jokingly but i almost wish we could find a way to draft the 2 best PG prospects in the draft and figure it out from there. Because you know damned well that if we only get one they will be there wrong one. Its sad that I even have to think in these terms, jokingly or not.

Yeah, it's way too late to catch the Bobcats, Hornets, Pistons, Wizards and New Jersey.

this argument seems silly to me, what does it matter if we have the 14th pick or the 15th pick?

If we fuck up good and proper, it could be more like the difference between picking 9th and 15th
