Thought I'd share this link, since 82games finally updated these stats. Criteria - 5 minutes or less in 4th (or full OT), 5 point game or less, only those possessions counted. http://www.82games.com/1112/CSORT11.HTM Best player in terms of point production for Portland? Ray Felton Second is LMA. Stats are sortable at the link.
Interesting to me that LMA is 13th in the NBA in FGA/48 in these possessions. That doesn't jibe with the criticisms I read on this board about the offense in close games. Also, note Batum's 22% shooting in these possessions. Maybe there is a reason he doesn't have many plays called for him late in games. FGA leaders, but look at the percentages. Surprised so many so-called 'closers' shoot below their normal rate. http://www.82games.com/1112/CSORT5.HTM
High FG with low FG% is nothing to brag about. On your site, he is above average on only 2 stats, FT% and blocks. It would be useful to delete everyone from that page except the 24 all-stars. I wonder how he'd rank in each stat.
Yeah, that's what I posted. I just was hearing about how LMA gets no shots at the end of close games. Must have misread all of those criticisms. You should do the research yourself. One thing I did notice was how Kevin Love was even worse than LMA in 'clutch' time. Plus, it's not my site.
We're a bad end-of-game team because McMillan doesn't know how to make our best player our best player then. If we'd hired Kevin McHale when he was begging for a job, Aldridge would have soon become a young Garnett. Who made Garnett Garnett?
