If we can get Patty Mills, it's going to do wonders. The lockeroom will be fun again. We have a real chance of letting the fan base that this was a great move. We need to tell the existing group that the better they play, the better chances they land a great free-agent. This time is now and this team can turn things around in less than a season. Do we make the playoffs? I doubt it, but I think our play will be energized and show great promise. It's good to be a Blazer fan again!
I'm a glass full type of guy, but this is a little too ambitious for me. We didn't make these trades to improve this season, we made these trades at an attempt to better our future. I would be shocked if we turned anything around. Edit: Patty Mills absolutely sucks. He can wave his towel and be a fan favorite all he wants, but he isn't bringing any wins to the table. The only thing that makes the locker room fun is winning. Regardless if the roster is full of good character guys, if you are losing it isn't a fun environment in the Locker Room. i.e. Compare the beginning of this season and now.
We are going to get hammered by 20 points every night. That's the reality. But we will get to learn some things about our young guys & see if Nic can carry a bigger load. This team is now built for the lottery though, make no mistake about it.
So? We've rid ourselves of 2 of the 4 cancers. One will be gone at season;s end and the other will be dealt with. Let's play the kids more and get a better draft pick.
They should have cut Felton. Hopefully he will be professional sitting on the bench while they play Nolan and Flynn.
The very unlikely, but best possible outcome would be: The NJ pick. NJ plays poorly the rest of the season and drops further in the lotto than they currently stand (6th worst record). When the lottery is run, they do not win one of the top 3 slots, and thus we get their pick for 2012: 4th or 5th. The Blazers pick. The Blazers continue to lose games, miss the playoffs and are in the lottery. When the lottery is run, the win one of the top 3 slots. Best possible position in the 2012 draft: 1st and 4th picks. What is more likely is NJ plays a little better and moves up one or two slots from 6th and we end up with their pick which is 7th to 9th; and we continue to lose games, but don't win the lottery (not enough lotto balls), so our pick is 11 to 13. Likely positions: 8th and 12th picks. What is also possible is the Blazers go on a little tear and we move up to the 14th to 17th pick, and the Nets make up the 5 games they are currently out of the playoffs, go out of the lottery entirely and we get their 15th pick. Possible positions: 15th and 16th picks.
possible but unlikely that NJ plays at a worse rate then they've been. Wallace will be an improvement and Brook Lopez is due back in a week. I'd guess that both Portland and NJ's picks end up in the 7-10 range STOMP
I am, personally, rooting for both Portland and NJ to lose every game the rest of the way. I'll risk NJ slipping into the top 3 and getting their pick down the road... that's better than getting a low lottery pick from them this year, IMO. Ed O.
I really don't see NJ doing THAT much better, but it's possible they'll climb up a bit. I think we are going to sink like a rock.
We have no ROY, ODEN, Wallace, a pg or a center! Sooooo....... No one is expecting anything out of this team for the next 4 years! It's all up from here!
