Realizing that all these guys are free agents except Rondo. Didn't include Felton simply because I'm not a fan. Not really a fan of Foye either, but his number aren't horrible. Looking beyond the Linsanity craziness, and assuming he can come back from the meniscus repair (a red flag there based on previous Blazers) but just looking at his numbers. Foye is not a PG. He's a SG stuck in e PG's body. Just look at his AST%, both career and current. It's not even close to the other guys. Brooks is another guy who calls his own number too much. Lin may, or may not be, a flash in the pan. His numbers this year look good, but it's only 35 games. Dragic I like, because he's still relatively young and has shown steady improvement. Of course, Deron is the class of this list, by far and I like Rondo for his defense. Not sure about his attitude, though. I'd love to get Deron, but think that's a pipe dream. I'd be willing to take a chance on Rondo or Dragic. Definite no on Foye and Brooks. If none of these pan out, I'd be looking internationally or to college. I'd definitely love to draft Kendall Marshall with our draft pick. Draftexpress currently has him slotted to go at 15. So there's a good chance he'll be available at 10, 11 or 12 (or wherever we end up picking). Yeah, he's not a great shooter/scorer, but I love his passing ability and his pass first mentality. Here's what his Draftexpress profile says on these points: "Marshall's 10.7 assists per 40 minutes game adjusted this season rank the highest of any player in the history of our database (which goes back to 2001/2002). He's also #1 all-time in Pure Point Ratio by a large margin, while his 3.51 Assist-Turnover Ratio ranks 3rd all-time." BNM
If the Blazers enter next season with one of Dragic, Marshall, Lin or Deron I will consider the off-season a resounding success. If they get a guy like Brooks or Mo Williams it'll be a lot of meh for me, but I can live with it ... and then there's the unsavory possibility that Felton comes back. I'll stop there.
Nah, just figured he'd either go to a contender or stay in Phoenix at this stage in his career. (actually just forgot him)
Dragic and Lin are very similar; both keep their dribble alive in the paint and can shoot. I like Dragic for the fact that he's a certified Laker killer.
I would almost. In terms of play, I'd rather have Felton. But he's such a cancerous tool I want him off the team by any means possible.
But does he qualify as "dreaming big" as Larry Miller put it? IMO, he's not. Dragic is having a good year and looks a little Nash-esqe but I hope they go all out for Deron.
