North Texas coach Johnny Jones interviewed for LSU's vacant head coaching job Tuesday in Baton Rouge, a source with direct knowledge of the process told ESPN.com's Andy Katz.

Jones, a native of DeRidder, La., was a member of LSU's 1981 Final Four team and was an assistant coach on former Tigers coach Dale Brown's 1986 Final Four team. Jones also helped recruit Shaquille O'Neal to LSU.
