It's not often Texas A&M fans in Georgia have the chance to pose for photos with Reveille, the collie mascot.

It's a similar rarity to see Missouri mascot Truman the Tiger high-stepping through the halls of an Atlanta hotel. LSU? Auburn? No, this is a different cat.

Reveille and Truman have a new conference home, and introductions were in order on Wednesday night.

Southeastern Conference commissioner Mike Slive and the SEC held an official welcoming party for Missouri and Texas A&M, only three months before the Tigers and Aggies open their first football schedules as members of the conference.

Slive noted that Atlanta hosts the SEC championship game. He said for one night, the city "is Missouri and Texas A&M and we welcome y'all to Atlanta and the Southeastern Conference."

Among those attending the event were Texas A&M president R. Bowen Loftin, Missouri chancellor Brady Deaton, Tigers football coach Gary Pinkel and Aggies football coach Kevin Sumlin.

Missouri's first SEC game will come at home on Sept. 8 against Georgia.

"It's going to be mammoth," Pinkel said. "It's going to be very historic. It will be our first SEC game and our first SEC home game that we play. It will be wild."

For Missouri fans in SEC country, this new relationship is a dream come true.

"Thrilled. It was a wild ride," said Jon Smalley, a 1991 Missouri graduate who lives in Alpharetta, Ga., near Atlanta and attended the party with his 8-year-old son, Wyatt. Each wore Missouri shirts.

    Kentucky adds 3 more recruits

Kentucky has added three more pieces to what's considered its greatest recruiting class with the signings of Julius Randle, Dominique Hawkins and Dakari Johnson.

Highlighting this group are McDonald's All-Americans Randle and Johnson, both of whom are expected to improve the Wildcats' frontcourt.

SEC TV Network Is Brilliant Move That Will Prove Lucrative in Short Order
    [IMG]

The Southeastern Conference has completed the buy-back of its TV, digital and sponsorship rights from third parties, clearing the final hurdles to launch its TV channel with ESPN next year.

The conference and ESPN will make a formal announcement on the yet-to-be-named SEC channel, which will launch in August 2014, at an event Tuesday in Atlanta.

This new network will be much like the ones created by the Big Ten and Pacific 12 conferences. According to Matt Murschel of the Orlando Sentinel, "both leagues and its members have seen a big financial windfall from the network deals."

Within the current constructs of the SEC's television deals, the schools in this conference were already raking in the cash, according to Murschel:

The SEC's current television rights deal with ESPN and CBS pays the league $205 million annually, which breaks down to $14.6 million per school. While financial details of this new deal were not released, it's likely the payday will be much larger.

2013-14 College Basketball Conference Snapshot: SEC
    [IMG]

In 2013-14, Kentucky will try to pull off a rare college basketball feat by going from national champion to NIT, then back to national champion. As our league-by-league snapshots continue into the SEC, we take a look at the teams who might make things difficult for the Wildcats next season.

    1. KENTUCKY (21-12, 12-6, NIT first round)
Key players gone: Archie Goodwin, Julius Mays, Nerlens Noel

Top returners: Willie Cauley-Stein, Alex Poythress, Kyle Wiltjer

New faces: Aaron Harrison, Andrew Harrison, Dakari Johnson, Marcus Lee, Julius Randle, James Young (all freshmen)

The Wildcats will be back in national title contention thanks to a recruiting class that includes six of the top 15 prospects in the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Kentucky missed out on consensus top prospect Andrew Wiggins and still finished with the nation’s top signing class. The Wildcats now have nine McDonald’s All-Americans on the roster. Even if last season went awry, John Calipari has proven he can win a title with freshmen of this caliber. The question, especially after last season, will be leadership and the contribution of the veterans.

Nashville eager to be SEC's home

If the Southeastern Conference is looking for a regular home for its men's basketball tournament, Scott Ramsey says Nashville, Tenn., is ready.

Ramsey, president and CEO of the Nashville Sports Council, told ESPN that Nashville "would pursue it aggressively and host the tournament as many times as they will allow."

SEC commissioner Mike Slive says league athletic directors voted unanimously to "authorize the conference to explore a primary site for the men's basketball tournament."

    Zach Price transfers to Missouri

Missouri has landed yet another transfer, this time seldom-used Louisville big man Zach Price.

Price was a highly touted center coming out of high school, but hasn't been able to get significant playing time in his two seasons with the Cardinals. He averaged 1.3 points in 7.7 minutes as a sophomore last season playing behind Gorgui Dieng, Montrezl Harrell and Stephan Van Treese.

Mississippi has indefinitely suspended guard Marshall Henderson for a violation of team rules, the school announced Wednesday.

The suspension is a result of multiple failed drug tests, sources told ESPN's Jeff Goodman.

Marshall Henderson needs the help of someone outside of Mississippi athletics in order to face his problems, writes Andy Katz, but will he ask for it? Blog

Marshall Henderson has received a lot of flak for his on-court antics. Turns out, his biggest problem is what he spends his time doing off it, writes Eamonn Brennan. Blog

Henderson's suspension has been "brewing for a few weeks," said a source with direct knowledge of the situation. The source also said Henderson can come back to the team "if" he meets certain conditions.

Trae Golden transferring to Ga. Tech

Former Tennessee guard Trae Golden is headed home to Georgia Tech to play his final season.

"I appreciate everything that Coach (Cuonzo) Martin and Tennessee did for me," Golden said. "I feel it's the best move for me to go home to Atlanta so I can be close to my family and help take care of my father."

Golden, a Georgia native who averaged 12.1 points and 3.9 assists per game last season, said his father is "severely ill" and he will attempt to get a waiver from the NCAA to be able to play for the Yellow Jackets this season.

The 6-foot-2 Golden told ESPN.com he left Tennessee in good academic standing.
