Any other time I would cringe at watching swimming, ping pong or gymnastics, but for some reason in the Olympics I can't get enough.
I agree.... I watch shit that I never would watch normally. I was watching rowing yesterday. The one thing I wish they'd do is just do a brief explanation of some of the non-obvious rules for some of the events. You'd think they'd figure that quite a few people who tune in have never watched it before. I love watching the beach volleyball.... specifically the women's beach volleyball
Nate, my wife was saying the same thing about one of the sports we were watching She said they should be sure to explain what the hell is going on for some of these events. Even main stream stuff like gymnastics has changed the scoring. No longer is it simply a perfect 10 and below. She was a gymnast, so she understands, but she was saying most people probably don't
Well, I was watching the beach volleyball last night and it was driving me nuts because I wanted to know the rules on touching the net or how they swapped sides (I figured it had something to do with points, but I wasn't sure what exactly was the rule). I also was wishing there was a mini map or something for rowing because they only give you a good side shot and you can't see how far is left in the race.
The only sport so far that I didn't really like was some of the equestrian events. It seems impressive to me that a horse can do that stuff, but the Olympics is for people. Anyway, most of the stuff I really like. But I am trying hard not to get any Olympics news throughout the day, even medal counts, so that when I watch I have no idea what the outcome will be. Yesterday, I watched some 16 year old girl Hsing from the USA competing in ping pong where she was an absolute underdog but kept making comebacks against the best Chinese player and I was captivated. Hsing ended up losing, but impressed the heck out of me.
Chariot racing was an event in the early years of the Olympics. Jus' saying. I don't care for the equestrian events either.
Google the rules like I did for Judo. I learned it's illegal to feign attacks because it is seen as a stalling tactic.
That's basically your only option (googling), but I wish they would at least do a little run-down of the rules before a match.
This is exactly why I HATE the Olympics! Fuck rowing! And for all you who are crying about not knowing the rules..... thank god in 2 weeks you won't have to worry about this crap for 4 more years. Then you can all talk about how much you love the Olympics again.....
All I keep thinking about is the % of women's field hockey players that are lesbian. Those are some smokin hot lesbians
I've tried, but I still can't be interested by any Olympic event other than basketball. I've never really enjoyed watching athletes that I have no idea who the fuck they are.
Some of the sports I like. I have a lot of appreciation for the water polo players. That looks tough.
It looks like the water is deep enough that you can touch the bottom though. I've played water polo where you had to tread water.... that shit was hard.
