What do you think? Will they or won't they?

Every year 8 nba teams from each of the two conferences make the playoffs and only one of two teams in the Western conference since the mid 90's to present has been consistently failing to reach the playoffs out of combination of bad luck, injuries, managerial ineptitude, lackluster coaching, and cheap ownership. With the clippers on the upswing, the warriors should follow suit because the balance of power should be shifting to the crappier teams like the Twolves and us.

    Locks to get in:

    OKC
    LAL
    SA
    LAC
    Mem

    Likely:
    Dallas
    Denver

    Possible:
    Minny
    Utah
    Houston

I hope to be competing with Dallas/Denver, possibly Memphis. Don't see us being as good as LAC and the others above them. Health will obviously play a huge factor.

I see the warriors having just as much of a chance if the other guys are battling injuries. For example Blake Griffin gets hurt or one of the Spurs big three gets hurt. The warriors might do it if they stay healthy, but there has been some roster turnover which means the warriors will have to get used to playing with each other and figure out each other's tendencies and what the coach wants. The other teams have the benefit of having played at least one year together and knowing who their star is. Curry didn't play much last year, Bogut is brand new, and we don't know if we have a consistent backup center or if the shooting guard spot is truly solidified. There's a reason why Rush tends to play more small forward (he's not really an advanced ballhandler). We don't know who is THE go-to guy. I think it should be a guard and if in the post it should be Bogut. Maybe the warriors will get on good teamwork in late game situations because either one of Lee or Bogut is a threat in the post and can dish it to an open guard. We have many 3 point specialist guards. Rush/Thompson/Curry/Jefferson and even Harrison Barnes could probably stroke a few.

That's why I liken the W's to a team like Denver instead of Dallas, LAC, or even Memphis. Those teams either have bonafide superstars (Dirk, CP3) or at least players who are good at creating for themselves (Gay, Z-Bo, Conley). I like our talent, I just can't put us above these proven teams right now because I haven't seen how we play defensively and I'd like to see how Curry does running a half court offense without Monta.

One big development from last season that is oft overlooked was Lee flourishing at PF. His first year here (and as a full time PF) was disappointing, although injury marred. He came in last year and not only played great but developed a one-on-one game. Its not your classic back to the basket skillset but he knows when to back smaller guys down and throw up the baby hook or when to face up and use his advanced speed and dribble to take bigger guys. You'd still like him to be a third option type though.

MJ/Malone's offensive sets will be crucial. The shots will have to be spread around, and most/all of our players need plays run for them to score. We do lack that single homerun hitter, but on the other hand we have scoring threats all over with Curry, Klay, Lee, Bogut, Landry, Jack, any of the SFs, etc.
