Wondering how many days off most of you "normal hour" 8-5 M-F working individuals get a year. I know some people get 2 weeks on average, but counting your official vacation time and weekends, how many days a year do you work?
3 weeks paid vacation, sick days are accumulated as 1 per month and then 5 paid optional days. Paid holidays as well.
I take a week or two a year. We can take as much as we want as long as we achieve results and there's no deal on the horizon.
I get all major holidays, 22 days vacation/sick days + an optional 12 Fridays per year if I choose to work 4 9.5 hour shifts M-H. So the most I can get in one year is 34 days. I also have 24 days 'on the books' I have carried over. I keep those days in the event I take part in an occupy S2 movement trying to get Denny to cede control to us.
We get 15 days vacation. They used to add more after 5 years service but stopped - right around my 5 years! We get unlimited sick leave but if we are gone 3 consecutive days need a doctor's note. They pointed out at new employee orientation that they aren't stupid, if someone calls in sick every Friday and Monday they will start to smell a rat, but general policy is don't come in sick, you won't be effective and can infect others, so instead of one sick person we could get a whole department. They took away our President's Day holiday! We get New Years, MLK Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving & day after. Also get from 12/24 to 1/1 off. Depending on how the weekends work out it could be 7 to 9 days. After every 6 years we get a 6 week sabbatical with pay. I'm eligible for sabbatical in November, but actually taking it in spring (April 15 through the Wednesday after Memorial Day, to be precise, you won't see me on the board!) as we can take it any time in the calendar year.
Including 6 weeks vacation, weekends and holidays, I am scheduled to work 220 days a year, with an additional 12 days for sick time.
Why would you want people to factor in weekends if they work a "normal hour 8-5 M-F" job? It's probably safe to say that 95% of those people get weekends off if they are working M-F.
Because he's lazy and he doesn't get weekends off, but wants us to do the math for him. He wants to compare us to him for his negotiations probably.
So 104 days off (weekends) plus 2 weeks on average. 118 days off....... So it's safe to safe you crackers with a "normal" job/hours work roughly 250 days a year.
But we are gauranteed to be home for the holidays, birthdays, anniversarys, kids sports, etc. You cant say that... FAMS!
