The Arena Football League grieves the loss of Tampa Bay Storm wide receiver Chandler Williams, who passed away while participating in a local independent flag football tournament in South Florida.

"We are shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of Chandler," Tampa Bay Storm team president Derrick Brooks said. "Our heart and prayers go out to his fiancée Vanitia Harrigan, daughter Tori Williams and the rest of his family."

Williams, 27, caught 83 passes for 996 yards and 17 touchdowns, while leading the League with a 23.0 kickoff return average as a rookie with the Storm last season.

Originally a seventh round selection by the Minnesota Vikings in 2007, Williams became just the second player from Florida International University to be drafted. He also spent time with the Miami Dolphins, Atlanta Falcons, Kansas City Chiefs and the CFL's Toronto Argonauts.
