Mike Rice said he should have went in the 2nd round, if that.

You have no idea how hard I was praying for Drummand to drop to 11th. He was picked 9th. I was hoping Oshley would have used our 11th and a player to move up to 9th so badly!!!!

Who though? Doubt someone like Babbitt would have gotten it done.

At the time it might have. Remember that Drummand was such a big question mark. Many think his drive is hard to bet on. The 9th pick-12th seemed like big question marks. I think a Babbitt or E Will at the time would have easily done it. Remember E Will wasn't injured then.

Drummond was a guy I'd wanted on the Blazers so badly. I was praying we'd end up with the #4 so we could draft him. I was posting about him within the weeks after we completed the deal with NJ. I would have been happy with him at #6. Lillard shot up the draft board, though, especially since this was such a weak PG draft. In the weeks leading up to the draft, when we were rumored to be after Lillard, I had previously hoped for Drummond at #6 and Lillard at #11. Unfortunately, Lillard shot up the board (fortunately, he appears to be a worthy talent - a nondescript understatement, I know).

we could have likely swapped places with toronto at #8, they picked ross, and one of ross, lamb or rivers would have been there at 11 for them if they really wanted a sg.

we could have thrown in a future #1 or swapped #1s at some point, or a slew of 2nds or ewill, or freelands rights or clavers rights or nolan+ any of that crap and i think it would have got it done :(

Go for it but DET has no incentive to take that deal.

My vague recollection is that someone from the front office said that they'd have picked Leonard over Drummond if Drummond was available.

I would have. Now, I'm not as sure. Still might though...might.

Or any deal we would reasonably be able to offer without hurting the team. You could argue Drummond is a more valuable commondity than Lillard right now.

One of the Mikes said it on the draft recount. I really really wanted Drummond or Trobb and but i'm really happy with Lillard and I like the hustle Leonard shows but he Drummond is looking damn good. I don't think there was a way to get both so I'm happy with Lillard over Drummond.

Yeah I think Lillard was the best pick in the draft. I'm sure the other 4 teams (other than NOLA) are kicking themselves for not selecting Lillard.

Really, Lillard looks damn good and should be ROY, but if the draft were re-done, I'd put Drummond #2.

Would any of you, if it were offered now, trade Lillard for Drummond? The only reason I would do it is the age difference and I still believe that a dominant C gets you closer to a championship than a very good scoring PG.

FWIW, I think a lot of the success you've had this year has been becuase of improvements in Batum's development....I don't think Lillard alone is the reason you are in playoff contention

1,000 times I would pick Lillard over Drummand. The PG are the new dominance in today's NBA.

BTW... Only the Lakers have won a title with a dominant center in the last 10 years. I guess you could argue that Duncan is a center, so I would put them in as well.

As a blazer fan I cannot explain in a way that doesnt make me look like a raving lunatic, just how amazing having a young PG who who isnt retarded is. Just watching Lillard is more fun then iv had watching blazer games since Sabonis retired.
There is no argument you can make that would convince me to take Drummond over Lillard.

Drummond with an 18 point, 18 rebound stat-line tonight. In only 28 minutes to boot.

Second among all Centers in PER. 1st among Rookies over-all. Pretty impressive.
