The Oilers went 1-1-0 last week with a home victory on Tuesday over Arizona and a road loss to Missouri on Saturday. Tulsa is 12-27-3 for the season and sits in tenth place in the CHL standings.

Tuesday night at the BOK Center, the Oilers cruised to a 4-2 win over the Sundogs. Rookie forward Kyle O'Kane chipped in his first goal as an Oiler, and goaltender Shane Madolora turned aside 36 shots as the Oilers ended a five-game home losing streak. Kyle Mariani, Jeff Buvinow, and Ryan Menei each posted two assists. The 4-0 advantage in the third period over Arizona was the Oilers largest lead of the season.

Saturday, the Oilers traveled to Missouri in search of their third straight road win but ended up on the wrong end of 5-0 decision. Mavericks goaltender Mathieu Corbeil made 24 saves and the Oilers were shutout for fourth time this season. The Mavs fired 46 shots on net, tied for the most shots allowed by Tulsa this season, and picked up two goals and an assist from John-Scott Dickson. The five-goal margin of defeat was the Oilers most lopsided loss since an 8-3 setback on December 8 against Bloomington. Tulsa is 1-7-0 in its last eight visits to the Independence Event Center.

In Need of a Streak: With 24 games remaining in the regular season, Tulsa is 15 points out of the eighth and final CHL playoff spot. The Oilers haven't won two games in a row since early November when they notched a 1-0 victory at Fort Worth and fended off the Mavericks for a 3-2 triumph at the BOK Center. In games following a win this season, the Oilers record is 2-10-0 and they've failed to win back-to-back games in each of their last six attempts.

Magic Number: The Oilers have allowed three goals or more in 24 of their 27 regulation losses this season. When surrendering two goals or less to the opposition, Tulsa's record is 7-2-0.

Fisticuffs: Oilers forwards Daniel Amesbury and Patrick Schafer both dropped the gloves in Saturday's tilt against Missouri. In the first period, Amesbury traded punches with Mavs defenseman David Simoes. Since joining the Oilers on December 15, the 22-year old Amesbury has been involved in eight bouts and has recorded 58 penalty minutes in 16 games. Schafer, in his first tussle as an Oiler, sparred with Kyle Hood early in the third period. It was the sixth time this season that the Oilers have been involved in more than one fight.

Keeping The Goalies Busy: The Oilers have been outshot in six straight games and eight of their last nine. In two of those contests, January 19 against Wichita and January 26 against Missouri, Tulsa allowed a season-high 46 shots on net. For the season, Tulsa is firing an average of 28.1 shots per game on goal while giving up 33.4 shots per game. Oddly, the Oilers only have two victories this season when outshooting the opposition.

Solid and Steady: Rookie goaltender Shane Madolora has appeared in each of the last 14 games. In that stretch, the California native has been between the pipes for 91-percent of the total minutes. With 15 total appearances since signing with Tulsa on December 20, Madolora has already played more minutes (829) than any other Oilers goalie this season. The 26-year old boasts the best goals against average (3.33) and best save percentage (.902) of any of the five goalies to suit up for the Oilers this season.

Milestones: Patrick Schafer played in his 100th CHL game on Tuesday against Arizona...Saturday's contest in Missouri was the 600th game of Bruce Ramsay's head coaching career.

AHL Update: Gary Steffes was called up to the AHL's Lake Erie Monsters on January 8 and in seven games with the Monsters, Steffes has recorded one assist, eight shots on goal, and two penalty minutes. Lake Erie is the AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche.
