    Showdown

The Mallards earned three of a possible four points from their two-game weekend showdown with the Sundogs in Arizona. After blanking the Sundogs 5-0 last Friday, the Mallards one night later earned one point for a 3-2 shootout loss. The Mallards would have moved into a tie with Arizona in the race for eighth place and the final CHL playoff spot had the Mallards won in regulation last Saturday. Instead, the Mallards are now three points behind the Sundogs but do have three games in hand on Arizona.

    Trifecta

The Mallards have gone unbeaten in regulation in their last three games (2-0-1) after dropping their prior three games. Should the Mallards pick up at least one point tomorrow night against Bloomington, they will establish a season best for longest regulation unbeaten streak.

    The Mick

Forward Mickey Lang was called up to the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs last Thursday and made his AHL debut in the IceHogs' 2-1 loss to the Chicago Wolves last Friday. Lang is expected to return to action for the Mallards tomorrow night against Bloomington.

    Blanked

John Murray made 36 saves while posting his first shutout of the season last Friday. The shutout was the Mallards' third of the season. In all, Murray and the Mallards went 131:51 without allowing a goal until Jake Hauswirth scored on the power play for Arizona at 2:32 of the second period last Saturday night.

    Special Teams

The Mallards have scored on the power play in each of their last four games (6-for-24) and now rank ninth in power play efficiency (13.3 percent). The Mallards lead the league in shorthanded goals (7) and rank fourth in penalty killing (84.9 percent).

    Leaders

Lang is tied for the league lead in shorthanded goals (3), ranks third in goals (22), ranks fifth in points (47) and is tied for sixth in power play goals (6). Among rookies, Hellyer ranks second in assists (20) and ranks fourth in points (32) while Stinziani ranks third in goals (15) and points (33). Matt Duffy ranks fourth among CHL defensemen in assists (19) and is tied for fifth in points (23). Murray ranks third in minutes played (1382:02), fifth in save percentage (.913) and eighth in goals against average (2.65). Neil Conway ranks seventh in goals against average (2.63) and save percentage (.908).
