The Bloomington Blaze, fueled by Mid-Illini Credit Union, visit their closest rival followed by a return trip to the Mile High City.

Friday, Jan. 25- @Fort Worth Brahmas 5, Blaze 3 (SO)

--Nicholas Rioux and Kyle Bochek each scored two goals, but the Brahmas scored the only third period goal to tie the game and scored the only shootout goal in the first round.

    Saturday, Jan. 26- Blaze 5, @Allen Americans 2

--Dan Barczuk recorded a pair of goals as the Blaze knocked off the league leaders.

--First meeting between the rivals since a 3-2 Blaze win on Jan. 11 in Bloomington, first trip to QC since Nov. 4.

--The Blaze are 1-2-0 vs. Denver, with one of the losses a 5-1 decision on Nov. 28 in the only other visit to the Mile High City.

Friday, Feb. 3, 8:05 p.m. Central- Blaze at Denver Cutthroats

--Final meeting between the clubs until Mar. 16 and 17 in Bloomington.

That's a good point: After ending their season-longest three-game losing streak on January 5, the Blaze have earned at least a point in seven of their last nine games, going 6-2-1 in that stretch.

Repeat performances: Three Blaze skaters turned in multi-goal efforts during the past week. Nicholas Rioux and Kyle Bochek each scored twice on Friday at Fort Worth and Dan Barczuk lit the lamp twice on Saturday in Allen. All three recorded their first multi-goal games of the season.

Target practice: Dan Dunn has been the goaltender in all three of the Blaze shootouts this season, making a combined 15 saves but only picking up the win in the first one on Nov. 4 in 11 rounds.

Blaze anatomy: Forward David Gilbert has been reassigned to the Blaze from Rockford (AHL).

Gilbert has 13 goals and 12 assists for 25 points in 31 games with the Blaze, and one assist in three games with Rockford. Defenseman Aaron Dawson returned to the lineup last weekend after missing four games with a lower-body injury.

Stat-ic: Jon Booras is third in the CHL scoring with 52 points (19 goals, 33 assists). The Blaze top the league in goals (156), assists (265) and points (421) and have the top power play (24 percent). The Blaze are second in the CHL with 33.2 shots per game but ninth in shots given up with 34.5. Goal lights get a workout during a Blaze game, as the Blaze lead the league with 3.90 goals per game and are ninth in goals against with 3.53.

If it's Friday, this must be Denver: The Blaze have completed two games of the season's longest road swing of six contests, going 1-0-1 so far. After this week's games in Moline and Denver, the Blaze conclude the trip with a Friday, Feb. 8 visit to Quad City before finally returning home on Saturday, Feb. 9 and Sunday, Feb. 10.

Jersey boys: The Blaze will be painting U.S. Cellular Coliseum red when they return home on Saturday, February 9. The "Go Red for Heart" night will be part of American Heart Association Night sponsored by OSF St. Joseph Medical Center. Fans who wear red get into the game for only $10, and the Blaze will wear special jerseys to be auctioned after the game.

Junior Blaze update: The Junior Blaze winning streak ended at six games after splitting a pair of contests at Rhinelander last weekend. The Junior Blaze earned a come-from-behind 5-4 win on Friday with two goals from Patrick Anaruk but lost 6-3 on Saturday.

The Junior Blaze return home for games at 11 a.m. Sunday and 3 p.m. Monday against the Holland River Bandits.
