Cal Poly advances into NCAA tournament's field of 64

Now that Cal Poly has gotten its first NCAA victory out of the way, why stop at one?

Chris Eversley scored 19 points to help Cal Poly become the first team in 59 years with 19 losses to win an NCAA tournament game, beating Texas Southern 81-69 on Wednesday night in the First Four.

UC Davis beats NC Central in First Four 67-63

UC Davis overcame 18 turnovers and rallied in the second half to win its first ever NCAA Tournament game, beating a North Carolina Central team whose poor shooting ensured it would be one-and-done.

Chima Moneke had 18 points and 12 rebounds as 16th-seeded UC Davis (25-9) won 67-63 in a First Four game on Wednesday night to earn a trip to Tulsa to play No. 1 seed Kansas on Friday.

No. 13 seed UC Irvine upsets Kansas State 70-64

When it comes to college basketball in California, UC Irvine is low on the totem pole.

Now the program that sometimes feels like a little brother to Pac-12 powers like UCLA and USC is the only school from the state still standing in the NCAA Tournament after pulling off a stunner .

The 13th-seeded Anteaters got back-to-back 3-pointers from Evan Leonard on Friday to spark the deciding run in a 70-64 upset of No. 4 seed Kansas State, the first tournament win in school history.
