    If Nate still had Roy and Oden, he'd still be in Portland. There would be no Lillard. I'm pretty sure he was giving Lillard a compliment about how important it is to have elite players.

    Roy had a higher PER and lower USG rate than Lillard as a rookie.

    Roy PER 18 USG 23

    Lillard PER 16.5 USG 24.3

    Hmmmm

    Exactly what is Stotts bringing as a coach?

    I would really hope that Roy has less of a usage rate. There was a ton more talent on those Roy teams.

    Does being a point guard have an affect on usage rate?

    Lillard would have 50% of the freedom and confidence that he has now. He'd be pulled out after every error, splitting time with Ronnie Price.

    It was Roy's rookie year. Where was the talent on that team?

    One of the odder things on this board these days is how people will slam Roy, or McMillan, for any reason.

    It makes one look stupid, IMO. The Roy team that won 54 games was a freaking coaching miracle by McMillan, looking back on it.

    When Roy (not McMillan) won games in the last seconds, they were games that were nontransferrable to the playoffs. McMillan ball cannot win in the playoffs. The 54-win team wasn't as good as other 54-win teams.

    I believe that usage rate calculates a finished possession, be it a made FG, missed FG, turnover, FT or assist. So PGs, by nature, would have a higher usage rate because they have the ball in their hands more, and are going to have more assists. Lillard takes 2.5 more shots per game than ROy did as a rookie, and gets 2.5 more assists, so would definitely have a higher usage rate.

    Do you think I slammed either one of them with my post? I think McMillan would have definitely used Lillard in much the same way that he used Roy.
